D/l speed is quite decent with my Internet connection. I've never got to the point of dispair... well, just for DMC4 demo IIRC.

AAAHHHHHH, NO. that is not the case. there is nothing at all wrong with my connection. I hate it when people say that. That is the first thing people say when they want to make excused or defend sony for having such as slow connection. It is NOT MY FAULT. i Just want to know if there is really a reason or explanation on why downloads take so long. i do not have this problem downloading movies, music, or anything else on my connection.

I can't help you, because I've had no issues with download speeds. Not from the store, and not firmware updates. Not even in comparison to other systems, which I have.

I hear lots of people complaining about download speed problems, but I've really not experienced it. Obviously downloading a popular demo during peak hours slows things down, but that's to be expected.

Truly, I've had a great experience with download speeds, so I don't know what the problem could be. This is why many people assume it's the user's connection, because if they haven't had problems, it's difficult to assume it's the PSN.

Perhaps it's a region issue with the PSN? Some cities/states/towns have better speeds/reliability then others, maybe? Anyway, good luck.

I have similar problems but its got allot better in the last week or so, i can download a 700mb file in around 10 mins at the most and it took around 40mins to download the haze demo which was 1.5gb or somthing, but it used to take well over an hour to download 1gb from psn, but its got allot better still not great but better.

It's funny how people say it must be your crappy connection, well my connection is fine and the only time i notice when its not downloading at full speed is while downloading something on my ps3.

I guess that could be the case. but people automatically assume its something with my connection. I think I would know if I had a crappy connection or not. i download all sorts of stuff from the net. i already know it is not my connection. it just annoys me when people say that right off the bat.chillwill3000

Well, the fact that you download "all sorts of stuff" is not enough proof, actually. For example, does your PS3 go through a hub that your XP/Vista/XBox not go through? Unless whatever you are comparing against does not use the same hub and cable, it's hard to pin-point the problem. Every point from your PS3 to the PSN can be the cause...if let's say you have a high-speed connection, but one cable along that path is not one of those Gigabit cables, then you're transferring at the highest speed of the weakest point [i.e., that cable].

I've never done this with a PS3, but go to speedtest.net. If it works, record your transfer time. And at the same time, go to your PC and do the same. See if the numbers are "close". They of course should be and this removes PSN out of the equation. If it is the PSN's fault, it could be your physical location...perhaps the nearest PSN to your home is different from someone else elsewhere in the country. And maybe it's that one that is the problem. (I don't know for sure...but I presume for both PSN and XBox live...it isn't really "one" server...but many spread around the world.)

speed is fine here... took about 40 min to download haze. normaly i download at 250Kbps but that's because i share connection with 3 computers.WhyuStillAlive

idk about your connection but my connection is just fine i downloaded 3 demos and 6 hd trailers in 10 minutes...the time seems pretty fair to me considering how many mb im downloading

check ur internet connection and if u have to just plug it in to ur router
