Haha, I was in the same boat as the OP.
For Valentine's Day, my lovely girlfriend Sarah played a very large trick on me. Her little brother has a PS3 aswell [I convinced him to sell his 360 like I did.. haha] Anyways, she had him text message me on the cell, and pretend that he was looking for a game to buy, and was asking me questions about games, what ones I thought were good, and what one I would get. Ofcourse the few that were mentioned were the cheaper games, and out of those I told him the best choice would be Splinter Cell: Double Agent.. Little did I know the whole time, she was actually at the store, in front of the game section, on the phone asking him all these questions to ask me lol...
So after that, I thought nothing of it... then comes Valentine's Day, and to my extreme surprise, I get a PS3 game, Splinter Cell: Double Agent from her! I was in pure shock!
Later that day though, I took her out to dinner and I brought it up how I probably wouldn't actually play the game all that much, and if it was okay if I returned it, got the $40 back, and instead used that $40 towards another game. I did that, and ended up getting Burnout Paradise, and spending $20 on my own gift.
So, it turned out great. Shes a great girl, and I wish every gamer could experience the feeling of their partner actually encouraging their gaming habits. I love her =]
