How can you get a consistent wifi signal strength for the PS network? I've had it vary from 100% to 77% day to day, where I can't even play a match of MK2 or stay connected at all. I don't want to run a bloody wire room to room across my floors from my pc to PS3 or buy another router/modem just for that. Is this something you'll just have to put up with when using a wireless signal?

Sometimes it doesn't hurt to do some experiments of locating the router in various places and maybe even different heights off the floor. Also you may want to make sure there isn't something in the area sending another RF signal that could be interfering with the router signal.

It wouldn't make sense to move the router seeing as how I've gotten 100% from it where it's always been located. Are Linksys routers good? It's a newer 2.4 ghz Wireless-G broadband router. I suppose it depends also on consistent cable internet service too, which has been a problem before.

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

If your signal strength is varying from day to day... it's not consistent where it is, irregardless of the fact that "sometimes" you get 100 percent..

Your internet connection has absolutely nothing to do with your WiFi signal strength. Signal strength is just that, the strength of the signal of your wireless connection. And the only thing that effects that are the wireless connection itself. But, by all means, stay firm in your belief that there's some other answer to your problem that doesn't involve the wireless hardware or antenna.

When you finally give up and go back to ground zero, try moving your antenna. I have mine placed such that my wifi connection is always at 100% signal strength, and it doesn't vary. Unless you have some form of odd interference, or are dealing with too great of distance from transmitter to receiver, you should be able to manage the same.

I heard the higher up you place the modem, the better the signal. I can say that it helped my connection.
