Will MAG work well if people don't have the headset? Do you own one?

I'm planning on getting MAG but it relies heavily on teamwork and working with the commanders to win, at least if you want to win. I know a lot of people will enter a game, ignore everything that is said, grab a sniper rifle, and just chill somewhere shooting some of the 128 enemies they might see.

Of course that sounds fun but ya know i hope everyone would have a headset since that would make the game really fun.

Who knows, they might have some communication system like in MGO where you can tell people to "move out", "hold position" etc....

yes if its like most games when you can hear people with headsets over your speakers if you dont have one

like killzone, resistance, mgo, etc

i own and use the jabra headset that came bundled with warhawk without any problems almost for the past 2 years or since the game was released... the difference between the sony headset and the jabra one i am using is that the sony headset does have two microphones in it to cancel out the ambient noise, just like the jawbone headsets... the advantage of it is in many next-gen fps games you can hear other people over their headsets if you are in close vicinity in the game, so ambient noise at your home does give away your position in the game, where it s of some advantage to use a headset with noise cancelling capabilities...

i also have tried to use a first gen jawbone with ps3 but since the jawbone stuck in my ear i could not hear the game's ambient sound clearly, which was a disadvantage in many games... i haven't tried out the sony headset but if you don't like to give away your position in an online game do not have your stereo cranked up, chat extensively and loud and play loud music while your headset is on...

haha i have the one that came with warhawk but im usually too lazy to get it all started up

i play left 4 dead on my 360 a lot and when no one has a headset or only 1 person has it during rounds its not that fun and boring sometimes because it feels like playing with a computer.

however when everyone had a headset during a match, even parts where the action is low you feel tension and excitment as everyone starts talking about where to go next and who has what etc. if there were 256 people all on headsets playing in 1 match, with constant voice chatter in all directions. wow thats a dream come true for me lol it would be the wildest game on a console.

People will need to get one, most people will already have one because of the people from socom. Socom lovers will follow zipper with whatever game they make. Im sure they will do a bundle with the headset for this game too.

got an official heatset, im almost certain this game will come boxed with one. i think a headset will be vital to how well your team works in MAG. with 128 people on your side anything but voice com would not work.

I don't agree. Personally, I don't understand what's so fun about being told what to do in a game I've paid $80 to play. And angry teenagers posing as highly decorated military strategists is laughable at best. I don't understand how not using a headset can affect teamwork. I've never used one and it never kept me from reviving/healing teammates, repairing vehicles, seizing a control point, guarding a control point, transporting troops and drop them in a secure place, etc.

I have one but Inever used it to talk. Mainly I turn it on, put it on mute, and toss it on my counter. This way I don't have to put everyone on mute individually. I have found that 99% of people with headsets annoy me. I'll give it a try but who knows.

it wont work "perfect" without it but with to many headsets at the same time it will probanly will be just as bad

I got the headset from my friends Socom game, he was selling his stuff so I thought I would snag it. But I found that online is about 70% more fun when you can actually interact with people while your beating them into submission, or getting beat into submission. Playing without a headset is just boring and for games like Soul Caliber 4 you might as well be playing Arcade mode or something.

The only reason I won't get MAG is if it gets poor reviews. And as far as the squad thing goes, of course there will be people who go and fo whatever they want but acting as a squad is more interactive and earns you more experience which means more weapons and such. Plus it will be a lot easier fighting as a squad than it will be trying to be an army of one.

I have an unofficial but I don't use it because most people don't use them and the ones who do don't talk they just make random noises.

Same here. I don't have the Playstation branded bluetooth headset, but i have 2 bluetooth and 1 usb headset.

MAG rewards those more that follow orders and work together. So the guys that are most into the game, and rising in ranks will have a good incentive to keep the team concept going.

well more people are getting headsets, its not like in 07 with warhawk and no1 had a headset, now people are getting them and using them, i think the communication system needs to be revamped abit or get some better servers or what not, and ya itll work if people dont have a headset the commander gets ingame commands so thats alll that is needed, there will probly be up on the D-pad for enemy spoted or to tell what you see

they should include the headset in the game. and aside sell the game separately for people who already have one.

I have the Sony Bluetooth headset and a USB headset. I think the USB one has better functionality, but wireless is nice. I wish more people would use their headsets.

At this time with caps and everything being crap with North America when it comes to the internet, I see MAG as a pipe dream that can only work if fat three ton "suits" weren't sitting on our connection lines slowing everything down and over charging the population.

Same goes for that "OnLive" BS or whatever they were calling it. I laughed my ass off when I read that joke.

I believe that any online game should be played with a headset, especially a tactical shooter game... Trying to play games like Socom or even Left 4 Dead without a headset is just pointless and stupid.... However, I believe that MAG will still work without a headset because I am sure that whatever objective your commanding officer sets for your squad/platoon will appear on your HUD.... Still doesn't change the fact that you shouldn't play online until you invest the whopping $20 for a headset

Yeah because you have any knowledge on the networking agreements that they have for either one of these innovative movements for the game industry... Thank God you know everything, if only all the people trying to push technology to new limits everyday just listened to you, then we wouldn't have to worry about pesky advancements and groundbreaking technology.

So very, very true, only exception I've ever come across is Left 4 Dead... Definitely a game that requires a headset, but yeah for the most part my headset ends up on the ground between my feet after like the second lobby I get into
