Will you own one when it comes out. What must Sony do to keep game makers interested in making games for the PSV? What can Sony do to get people that have never played a PSP to be interested in the Vita? Honestly Coolyfett is not sure if it will do well or if it will fail. Coolyfett hopes that it gets many games to play. The games are more important then out selling whatever else it out there. How many games is enough for launch??

I think it is going to depend on the game library it will carry. Uncharted is a good start.

For me it will be a 3 strike thing... Sony already has managed strike 1 with the "new memory system" which basically means instead of implimenting a general format for memory, we will need to pay extra for Sony's new design.

I'll buy it, and it'll sell "well enough" that it lasts more than just a few years I'm sure.

You don't have to pay more. Just buy the adaptor that allows you to use MicroSD card. They have one for the PSP and I am sure that won't is being designed for the Vita as well.

OT: Yes I think it will sell well. I can't wait to get mine. It has like 4-5 games I want.

Of course it'll sell. It's the successor to the PSP and Japan still exists.

I hate to be on the negative side, but I feel like this system will not sell well. Here's the one reason, the price: $249 and $299. To me, that's too much for a handheld. the one $299 model costs the same as the ps3. Granted that you get quite a bit from the Vita, but I feel the price would scare off many buyers. The Vita will never be the #1 handheld console in the world. Nintendo has really dominated handhelds since Gameboy came out despite the 3DS disappointment. Once the price drops from the Vita, I feel it will sell well. Until then, I feel only the hardcore gamers will be playing it. I mean this isn't a system a parent would buy their child to play. Here's the reason why the price will hurt the system. When PS3 first came out, it cost $500. It didn't sell as well after its' initial launch. When it was $400, it sold a little better but still not doing as good. Once it was $300 that is when the console gained much momentum along with their library. I just don't see it selling well until the price drop. The DS (not 3DS) is still clearly dominant force in the handheld market.

I think the Vita will only sell to the hardcore gaming crowd and even then only to those interested in handhelds. I think those that will buy it, will be amazed by it, but... I don't think... it will sell... that well actually.

I'm sure going to get it though. I just hope enough gamers pick up on it too.

Even the PSP sold over 70 million. Vita removes pretty much every flaw of the PSP and is just super amazing, with lots of great games available at launch. It has games for all crowds. There's the big console type games, simple casual games and everything in between. Logic says it will sell way better than PSP. I'd say selling way more than 70 million in its lifetime is selling pretty damn well!

All depends really on hype but $249.99 didn't sell well for the other handheld so who knows.

The company that produces the other handheld was not selling it at a loss. While the system is selling like when they launch their previous one they were expecting higher sales. They lowered the price taking a loss just to compete with Vita, and try to create a bigger install base fast to receive more software support.

Since when are gaming system specially dependable on or just for kids? Haven't you noticed that around 80% of gamers aren't kids. Unlike the competition the PSVita will be sold at a bigger loss and will feature much powerful abilities. If you want a very powerful system with many features, you can't ask for a $49.99 price.

There are plenty out there who would buy the system for $250. You might think that's too much but sales history for the PSP says otherwise. Sure, pretty much only core gamers will be buying the Vita but that's a good thing from Sony's POV. Core gamers buy more third party software (look at the Wii and PS3), and that's Sony's ultimate goal: to get third party support. They don't care about being market leader anymore, it doesn't matter as much as they thought it did. Children don't buy things like Shin Megami Tensei, Bioshock, or Uncharted on the truck load if at all - they are obviously not the target demographic for the Vita.

Apple is the dominant force in the handheld market but Nintendo and Sony can still find their own niche.

Japan alone is crazy about the Playstation handheld brand so it will do quite well. Throw Monster Hunter on it and you got a system seller. This is going to happen sooner or later, just wait for it.

Yea, Coolyfett sees what you mean, Sonys media storage needs to be large and affordable. The more space we have the more we download.

No but the price drop will probably have to make up for it. I'm hoping a lot from this new their handheld also but I it will have to depend on the games.
