Okay before you say to search the board i did. I also looked at them they were sort of helpful, but they were a year old so I just want to see what i should get now.

Right now I take our modem from downstairs and just plug it in upstairs to my ps3 with a ethernet cord going to the ps3 and then the phone line going from the modem to the phone jack. This gets very annoying to do since my parents want to use the internet sometimes so then I can't be online. I have been thinking about investing in a wireless modem now. Should i just get a 50 foot ethernet cord or just get a wireless router? I also have a Wii so put that into account also.

Here is the one I will most likely get:

few questions you may need to answer before anyone can really help you.

What type of PS3?

What internet service (how fast)?

What else do you have that is wireless capable?

I would just get the wireless router.

I use wireless all the time with my PS3, and I rarely get any lag. Plus your other consoles could use it.

I also have a wireless router and am getting 100% signal strength. I also have a Wii to take into account. All things considered, I'm one of those people who would say "what lag?" when someone asks why it's so laggy online in a certain game.

Get the wireless. Also, how big is your house? My house is pretty large, and I only need to use 802.11 G while you are going for N.

A wired connection is recommended because it is more dependable and secure, while wireless has less security advantages and sometimes drop in bad weather. So my answer to you would be a wired connection.

my wireless is like 60% strength, depends on service and house layout or my router just sucks, so i swap between wired / wireless.

My house isn't that large. I live upstairs and my computer is downstairs. My Ps3 would be about 30 or so feet from the wireless router going through walls and stuff. I'm getting the N because it's on sale so i just though why not. It's usually $99 but its $69 this week.

What's the difference between the G and the N?

Okay I was going to ask how long the downloads took. Thanks for that note too though:)

A lot of my friends have that wireless router and it works fine for them too. except for one but that's because he breaks it some how.
