It excites me to see all the PS3 characters that the 3rd party franchises work with. It seems that PS3 has more viable characters because no other brand is doing this. Even Samus was not in the DOA Dimensions release on the 3DS and it had a Metroid stage. I guess PS3 has characters that integrate better in different universes. They aren't to cartoony(i.e.mario, luigi, DK etc) and they aren't to out there(i.e.Master Chief, Marcus Phoenix etc) it seems. I wonder if Sony pays more for this customization or if this is voluntary?

Yeah, its a welcome addition.. I think its mainly because Sony's 1st party characters fit so well into just about anything, whereas Master Chief, Marcus Phoenix (who else would Xbox possibly count as a "mascot) use guns and don't really fit outside of their own universes..

If I remember correctly I think some characters from Gears of War that are playable in Lost Planet 2, the Xbox version. Though there's always the chance I am wrong.

@Cannon I believe they did have Skins for Marcus and Dom in LP2. I don't think they actually had to build the characters from the ground up like Cole and Kratos.

Well MK and SF are series that can fit just about anyone, this is a series with some giant orange guy who drenches himself in oil. Anyone can be in it and not seem out of place lol.

I remember Nintendo characters being in games like SSX 3 and NBA Street 3 (I think so anyway). It probably they pay extra for to give multi-system owners a reason to buy the PS3 version...

I think you guys are reading too much into this. It's all about money, contracts, and agreements. It's how businesses work. Simple.

I want to be able to tear out more 3rd party characters' hearts in MK9. Bring Sly Cooper to MK!

thats funny then why did the developer of MK say that Kratos is the only outside character to fit in their game.

True, but DOA was solely for 360 and not cross platform. I was just kind of thinking cross platform games.
