Hi, I have a question for everyone. I use HDMI for video on my PS3, when I first booted up for video it was automatically set at 1080i so I left it at that setting. I have noticed on two occasions (MGS4 & Darkness) that things like subtitles are either slightly offscreen or cut-off somewhat. Anyone else have/had a similar problem, and if so is there any way to remedy this? Here's a link to my TV:

This is just my two cents, so if I am wrong somebody please correct me. I believe it has to do with displaying 1080i. I have a 20 inch LCD and it is not widescreen, but it is able to broadcast a very compressed/scaled 1080i picture. In other words, I can play 1080i games, but it is shown on my measly 640x480 TV. 1080 is the resolution that an image is displayed i.e., 1920x1080. Your TV does not have a width of 1080 pixels, but is able to broadcast a 1080i image and scale down to your TVs resolution, 1280 x 768.

I experience the same problem of items appearing off screen. In some games I can adjust the screen, but in others I cannot. I just think it has to do with the way that the PS3 broadcasts 1080i. Are you up-scaling your PS2 games? I've only played Resistance at 1080i and I didn't have any problems with that, but my PS2 games are off center when I upscale them to 1080i.

my hdtv is lcd by the way, but i connect my 360 to it via vga, cuz also if i connect with component the screen is still too small, so i use vga which actually looks better too

so really it all depends on the tv

Check your tvs settings it might be that. For example my tv as like 3 picture modes, full, zoom, and wide zoom, if your tv is set to zoom then that might be the problem.

I have noticed that with GoW I & II when I play in 480p Widescreen the very left side of the screen is cut off but other than that it is ok, I have not tried it with other PS2 games. As for PS3 games, I only have 3 games and Darkness is the only game as far as subtitles and parts of the picture being cut off goes, that has done that. I have tried everything I can think of to remedy this but I suppose its just something to live with for the time being, its a minor complaint to be sure, but annoying nonetheless.
