just bought an hdmi, and all it could detect was the 480p for the resolution. would u think thats enough for games like assassins creed and batman? thanks! :)magis312003480p is standard def. if you dont have an hdtv than 480p is the best solution. games will work on 480i, 480p, ofcourse it wont look as good as high def resolutions, but you can still paly the game.
my tv supports 1080.. its an lg scarlet and is hd ready. but the ps3 only detects 480p.. should i change the settings?>magis312003I think maybe you bought a crappy HDMI cable

Go to display and make sure to check all the resolutions. Seems like no one know much about hardware here; do you really think he could have attached an HDMI cable to an SDTV?
Also FYI Batman will render in 720 not 1080p.
If you went to custom settings, the resolutions that are greyed out are not supported
If they are all white, you have to select all of them. Or, you can just go to automatic settings

Unplug the HDMI. 2. Get your TV and smash it to pieces with some sort of heavy object. 3. Get your HDMI cable. 4. Dunk it in some egg white and leave for ten minutes. 5. Go to your local TV store and get a HDTV with 1080P resltion. 6. Get your HDMI cable, and brush it down with water and other liquid goods. 7. Plug it in. 8. Watch the fire works.
