I was thinking of buying it but I ve been seeing ppl and some reviews say that once you finish the story it really matters playing the game itself. basically their saying what I think is the game is meant to be played only once. What you guys think?

This is definitely a game you'll want to play multiple times, because you can get very different experiences based on the choices you make. And I've heard there are tons of different endings. IGN said among the staff they had found at least a dozen.
Plus, we need to support the devs, so we can get more unique games in the future.
I think it will have tons of replay value. What if your characters die during your first playthrough? Wouldn't you be intrigued how the story would play out if they were alive? Or even vice-versa? I think those factors plus the multiple endings make HR a worthy purchase. But I assume you could get 2-3 playthroughs even if you rented the game.
wait ign said theres about 12 endings? This is definitely a game you'll want to play multiple times, because you can get very different experiences based on the choices you make. And I've heard there are tons of different endings. IGN said among the staff they had found at least a dozen.

Well they may have been exaggerating, but during the PlayStation podcast Greg said they'd seen like a dozen different endings. Now, I believe the killer will always remain the same every playthrough, but everything surrounding it is different. You get different epilogues.

cool thnx for the response. It would be cool if there were that many endings.no way, it even has several endings.. If you are having second thought bc is not your type of game, that I`ll understand, bc is defenetely no a game for everyone. But the game seem to have a great story, a amazing way o unfold it.. and in top nice graphics, amazing action sequence.... for me is a BUY day one, and one of those few that i`m playing the 1st weekend that comes after I get the game.. no matter how many I may have in he "to play list"I was thinking of buying it but I ve been seeing ppl and some reviews say that once you finish the story it really matters playing the game itself. basically their saying what I think is the game is meant to be played only once. It's really your choice not ours. If you think you will only play it twice and never want to touch it again the by all means rent it, if you think that you would want to play through it a few more times in the future then probably buy it.
Buy if you are going to play it multiple times to see the different endings. Rent if you are going to play it once and never bother to finish it/see the different endings.
It's a buy for me.
I'm someone who often replays my games (yes, single player). Replay value to me isn't online, trophies, or collectibles, but rather the enjoyment, entertainment and experience I get from a game.
For me, Heavy Rain is sure to be high in all of those categories, making it a game I will replay a lot.
Heavy Rain is my most anticipated game of 2010, and I have zero doubt that it will not only deliver, but exceed my expectations.
I think Heavy Rain is going to be an awesome game. I'm betting the story is going to be up there with some of the best drama movies and the first experience is going to be almost epic. It will be a top choice RENTAL first.
An 8hr long game is too short anyway you slice it. It sounds like a firework: awesome, but just for a short time. I honestly don't know if I can replay the same thing for hours because I wanted to do something different in one section of the game just to see what would have happened.
I still have the opinion that HR is going to be amazing, I'm just afraid it will be a one hit wonder and every playthrough after the first is going to be drastically less enjoyable and that I am going to experience everything in a week.
I plan on renting it, and if I find myself with more questions I will buy it. I will say that the IGN review is also worth looking at, as it left me with a better overall opinion about the game and focused less on minor technical issues (that I probably won't notice anyways) and more on the story.
Rent. There is little replay value. Spending another 8-10 hours walking around and clicking on the same stuff just to see something differant happen is not worth it. More than likely, the changes in the plot will not be major. People always say they'll replay a game multiple times, but after they finish it, that thought quickly diminishes.
Though not put as bluntly, I feel the same exact way word for word. But...the entire experience on Heavy Rain is to click on things to see what happens, so those who enjoy that part will truley love the game and get good replay even if they have to force through 2-3 hours of "a slow start" to make that change in a scene halway through the game. As for me, I'll just check out youtube.Rent. There is little replay value. For me, unique games like this are Buy's. I will play it over and over and over...just like Indigo prophecy or even Uncharted 2. If you wanna just play it once and be done, rent it, but everyone has their own feelings on these types of games. A rental for ME was MW2.

going to rent for this same reazon
On Invisible Walls, one of the hosts said, "once you beat the game, you can go back and redo chapters." I would rather just start the game from the beginning to see how it pans out. I wonder how the game would pan out if three of the four main characters died? Anyway, this game is a definite buy because there's no other game like it on the market. This is definitely a game you'll want to play multiple times, because you can get very different experiences based on the choices you make. In a recent interview with Guillaume De Fondaumiere, Co-CEO Of Quantic Dream and executive producer forHeavy Rain, said that while he can't recall exsectly how many endings the game has, he did say that the game has maybe morethen 20 different endings to the game.
