I used to be a diehard fan of Xbox (mostly because of HALO 2, and I didnt liked SONY's "arrogance" at the time in the industry), so I supported Xbox.
Well, when the 360 came I bought it in launch day... and in 6 months I got what everything have got on this console, the rings of death, in 2 weeks got a replacement, and after a couple of month, again the rings of death, so I sold it as scrap and got a new one, then the Elite came out with HDMI output... I was like WTF!?!?! so much money investe on a console so that at the end , the diehard fans that got it on launch and that got the Premium, find out that their console is now obsolete!) and now , for the ones that got the Elite, an ultimate is will be announced (probably)... OMG what a let down to Xbox supporters!, how can you trust a company that does this to loyal consumers, Im kind of confused if this are good bussines practices... constantly upgrading a console, I mean, I know is a good thing to improve, but what happens to the ones that got their console on launch, the true fans are the ones being ripped of.
And dont even let me start on my paranoid theory that MS designed the 360 with the rings of death on pourpuse, knowing their bussines practices, is it hard to believe that MS tought "ok, let me produce faulty consoles, knowing the market, they will buy a second, a third and some will buy even a seventh one!, and why not produce a new xbox models with new cooler and chip's that the first one dont have, some will upgrade their xbox's even when their currently ones work fine. and for the one that saysthe losses that MS have for repair consoles, whats the cost of repairing a unit vs the income for selling another to shis same customer?
Anyway, I decided to get a PS3, and little by little the console gained me, now I have all my music library and all my photos in the HDD of my PS3, for me the online is great (in MK2 it was like playing with someone sitting right next to you, no lag), an affordable blue ray, the remote play (something unbelievable and that I would have never imagine possible when I was a child), but most important... a reliable hardware, got converted, in my country a PS3 when I bought it was 900 Dlls... and I dont regret it.
