i went to walmart to by another wiimote and inoticed that there wasnt one ps3 in the ps3 cabinet.SOLD OUT

then i thought about how they are discontinuing the 60gb model. if they all sell out, then they r gone for good right?

Yea, but don't think for one second that Sony doesn't have PLENTY of 60GB PS3s they haven't shipped. They know what they're doin'. They kinda caused a mass panic for the 60GBs, even though they have plenty of already massed produced 60GB PS3s left.

sony said it has enough stock for several months to come and since they expected the price drop to double sales I would bet the have at least a million or two still waiting to be shipped

1. Start by offering 5 free bluray movies.

2. Then drop the price $100.

3. Announce the 80gig and confirm it will not have the EE chip.

4. Have a great E3 showing.

5. Let it "accidentally" slip that the 60 gig will be discontinued.

The only people who they pissed off are the people who say they were "planning to buy" one 3 or 4 months down the road. Honestly who cares about them. Worry about'em 3 to 4 months down the road. haha Hook the ones ready to buy today.

I honestly don't think the price will come back up. the $599 tag is for a limited bundle that will most likely just happen to run out at the same time as the 60 gig. If you think about it like this it all makes perfect sense what sony is doing, price the 80 gig at 600 so not as many people will want it over the 60 gig but it'll still sell to a degree. then the 60 runs out so retailers aren't stuck with them when the bundle runs out, and with the extra controller packed in they clear out all the sixaxis they have in the warehouse then they drop the 80 gig price to 500 and debut the new rumble controller with out having to toss anything in the trash. I would bet anything that it WILL happen this way.

cause sony is now selling the ps3 at a lower-than-production cost price. now they're hoping that with more people owning a ps3, the sales of ps3 games would go up as well, dats the part where sony's gonna earn a lot.

you guys need to remember that there are 120 million people who have a PS2. and the majority of those people were always waiting for the PS3 to drop in price, now that it has, even a little bit, we're seeing all those people coming out to buy one. if the price continues to get cheaper all of those PS2 owners will be buying one. Sony fans, in my experience are very loyal to the brand. There are more Xbox fans who have turned over to the Playstation side than Playstation fans who have defected to the Xbox side.

By the end of this year things will start to become clear for a lot of us. Sony sales will really start to pick up.

who cares about madden its just like every football game. I can't believe fans of EA sports don't get tired or feel like every game is repetitive. They are so stupid just stick with one madden or fifa or whatever else football game EA has and stick with it. Stop wasting your money on more of the same crap.

Totally true - people don't want to say they can't afford it, so they bash it - but not everyone. I admit I can't afford it, but I won't bash it because of that.

If the 80G is the main model over there, then are we going to stay with the 60G - wtf? I thought that they would want to keep it at one SKU in production (what does SKU stand for -System K Unit? I know it is things like the Premium, Core and the Elite). I reckon they didn't say it, but the 80G is coming to Europe once they are out of 60Gs.

But most people speculate they are probably around break even at the 499 price point...
