YLOD and ps3 80gb

i have a new ps3 80gb from the kind that do not play ps2 games. i have read alot about ps3 YLOD and blu-ray lense dying, but i don't know how new these prolems are, and how widespread. are they common? should i worry, or are they fixed in the newer models? how likely are they to happen to my ps3? thanks for your help :)

We wont know if there fixed for another year or so..

My 60gb got the YLOD. Dear God I hope my 80gb is safe from it.
