4 because it answered all the questions the previous games left on the table and it was just incredible. 1_Hit_Killer
Yeah I think thats the most important part of MGS4
With default game camera - MGS4>MGS2>MGS3
With changed ones (if applicable) - Subsistence>>>>>>MGS4>MGS2
I'm still debating with myself between MGS1 or MGS3, haven't decided yet lmao.
1. MGS1 or MGS3
2. MGS1 or MGS3
3. MGS4
4. MGS2, I have to admit... I didn't think much of it, especially near the end it all went a bit weird for me.
Well, to be honest 4 was the only Solid game I completed...
I loved MGS2 until they stuck me with Raiden and I was like, WTF? I bought this game entirely for Snake and they give me this Final Fantasy-looking dandy to mince around with.
I was starting to really get into MGS3, but didn't get far into it because I had Subsistence and burned a lot of time playing Metal Gear all over again and then I bought a 360, after which I bought a Wii and after that I got my PS3, and it's been hard for me to go back to PS2 games just yet, apart from Katamari, that is.
For me, it's in this order
1. Metal Gear Solid 4
2. Metal Gear Solid 3
3. Metal Gear Solid
4. Metal Gear Solid 2 (still one of my favorite games though)
I have to go with MGS 3.
Since it had awesome bosses, set in the jungle, had the song "Snake Eater", had EVA, and you could eat animals and ramen. Simply awesome.:P

Wasn't it fun to also think that you died at the end of the Sorrow boss? :P

same, snake eater song and eva = awesome, also the boss battle with "the end"
I also like the VR training and Im not trying to be funny, I enjoyed it since its the 1st metal gear that I played
I loved MGS but my fav have to be MGS4. This is my order by preference of playing.
MGS4
MGS
MGS3 - Substance
MGS2 - Substance
1. Metal Gear Solid 1 / Twin snakes , Twin snakes owned metal gear with upgraded graphics. I get all warm inside when I think back playing MGS 1 on the ps I was like 10 years old probably my most memorable video game of all time! Hard to believe it's almost 10 years ago!
2. Metal Gear Solid 2 , Alright I agree Raiden was kind of lame but he was alright obviously we all wanted more snake but it didn't spoil the game for me! I loved every bit of MGS 2 the boss fights where awesome the story was great.
3. Metal Gear Solid 3 , What can I say awesome game the boss fights where I think the best in the series so far specially The End was cool you could either fight him or wait for him to die ^^ the survival integration was really cool and I liked the fact that time passing by in real time influenced the game
4. Metal Gear Solid 4 , I liked it but I didn't love it. What annoyed me the most is that we finally get our hero back and he's in near dead shape! I didn't like the bosses all that much and I dont mean gameplay wise but more how they looked and acted. It wrapped up the story quite well still I personally was a little disappointed. But besides that the graphics and gameplay where incredible.
I THINK MGS1 IS THE BEST, JUST THINK ABOUT IT.
THE WAY U HAVE TO DEFEAT BOSSES, IT HAS CHANGED BOSS BATTLES IN ALL GAME.
the game brang the game to the outside world for example to beat mantis u have to change controller ports to it cant read ur mind. also u have to read the back of the CD case to find out merlys codec number.
this made the gamer more in-voled and the gamers interacted.
yeah the graphics were bad but that made the game good because u remember things.
the mgs1 twin snakes changed the hole feel of the game ( a bad one)
MGS1 REVOLUTIONISED THE WORLD!!!

Metal Gear introduced stealth on 2D platforms. MGS1 introduced stealth on 3D platforms. It introduced the cover system which most games are using now, it introduced holding your breath during sniping and other weapons using drugs like PENTAZAMIN. Most games now are implying the technique of "Hold Breath" although they're not using drugs in the game but a button instead :P. It introduced the quick transition from TPS to FPS, crawling(introduced in MG 1987), planting claymore, C4, the use of chaff grenades, etc... like you said, amazing and creative boss battles that set a standard to gaming. MGS1 raised the bar and was a reference to developers so that they can take ideas from it to enhance the way their game is played much like every Metal Game to be honest. In the end of the day I want you guys to realize that most ideas you see in gameplay in other games and present games from hiding from the ennemy to sneaking to crawling to holding your breat, transition from TPS to FPS etc... were all taken from a game called Metal Gear. I don't remember any of these being introduced in other games before Metal Gear. Kojima and Metal Gear FTW!
I have to go with MGS 3.

I agree! I just love the setting, the theme song, eating to survive, boss battles, and of course playing the REAL SNAKE! :)
