Poll 75 years today Hiroshima was nuked. Do you agree with it (31 votes)

Yes they deserved it 52%
No 140,000+ died 48%

The Japanese military were worst than the Islamic State, they murdered over 10 million people and raped thousands of women.

But, the war was pretty much over by the time the US decided to nuke civilians. Japan was already in the process of surrendering.

Do you agree with the US decision to nuke Japan? Not once, but twice.

Check out the article below regarding how historians view the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

@sealionact: FDR actually had a declaration of War already prepared to send to congress. It was clear we was going to war and it would of been historical because prior to that the US had never attacked anyone that had not fired the first shot. Was actually debated for quite awhile which was an uphill battle being that congress was in majority control by isolationists.

None of that explains why you said "They didn't start it". Knowing you will go to war is one thing....having a declaration of war "ready" is another. America was not planning nor preparing to attack Japan, until Japan attacked US interests.

@redviperofdorne: Never said they were innocent. Never said they were victims. Just saying the US did not go off half cocked and blow the shit out of Japan out of revenge.

@sealionact: Ok let me explain it this way. Kid 1 in the playground tells Kid 2 he is going to beat him up. Kid 2 punches Kid 1 in the face. Who started it? Could argue it both ways.

There was plenty of preparing in the pacific. Why do you think the fleet was in Pearl Harbor in the first place? We even thought we had a battleplan. We expected the Japanese to attack the Philippines when the war started. We was wrong. The Fleet was put in Pearl Harbor to intimidate Japan into not invading SE asia any further. And MacArthur was preparing a defense in the Philippines and pearl harbor was a staging area to back him up.

We like to portray Pearl Harbor as an innocent target, just simply is not true. Not hating on America either just not a Democrat and will not lie about our history.

@redviperofdorne: Even though I agree with you on agreeing with bombing them. I do not agree to your reasoning. First off they did not start it. We were going to attack them they knew it and acted. Yeah it was sneaky and underhanded but this is war. Why the bombs were necessary was because we had already finished it and they were not going to quit. An invasion of the mainland of Japan would of had heavy tolls on the US but it would effectively exterminated the Japanese and their culture. It was an act of mercy not revenge.

Stop making things up. We were not going to attack Japan. We were isolationist at the time.

It should have never been dropped on civilians. It should have been a demonstration.

The second one should never have been dropped at all. Japan was already fixing to surrender before the bombs were dropped, the bombs were cruelty for cruelty's sake.

I honestly think you need to do some research on the subject. Yes, it could be argued the the US provoked the Japanese into attacking but there was no way the US was going to attack Japan at the time. As you stated there was a strong anti war feeling in the States, and the President would never have convinced congress to declare war before Japan fired first. MacArthur was not expecting an attack in the Philippines....nobody expected Japan to strike first anywhere. In fact MacArthur was totally unprepared for the Japanese attack even after Pearl Harbour.
Read about how unprepared he was here...

Either way, the US did not start the war.

@sealionact: never said we started it but we threatened too. And FDR had a lot of power and congress was also totally under the control of HIS party. We was going to war there was just going to be a lot of debate on it first. And MacArthur was a joke and yeah he was always screwing up. Remember my grandfather telling me how MacArthur forced soldiers to lay their coats in the mud so he could walk to his tent without getting his boots muddy.

We were not prepared for an attack that day. We were in the process of preparing and is probably why the Japanese attacked.

IMO we should of been the ones to attack and much sooner. It was like 2 trailer trash guys get in a Fight and the one that is the US started taking off his shirt and the Japan one started kicking his ass while it was pulled over his head. Dirty and underhanded but smart.
