Poll Do you think those that protest the flag should be tried for treason? (27 votes)

Yes, they are supposed to be role models. They're openly trying to get people to hate this country and what it stands for. 11%
No, they are just confused. 37%
other, explain 52%

I for one think they are trying to turn other citizens against America. There should be consequences.

How come the "yes" answer is not "Yes, im as anti-first amendment and constitution as it gets"?

You did put "no, they are just confused", which is silly. At least the anti-first amendment thing is accurate.

There is a difference between the first amendment and encouraging the hating of america through stupidity.

There's actually not. Even if you want to say this is what this is, its still a first amendment right.

Of course you kind of have to be fairly stupid to think that is whats being said here.

Conservatives like the OP are all about free speech when it allows them to be dicks to minorities and get away with it. But they hate it when anyone talks back to them, like people who protest the flag or football players protesting at the start of games. The truth is that they don't really believe in free speech. They just love that it protects them when they're being bigoted.

This is the classic situation they get themselves in and ironically the thing they are complaining about "the left" doing recently.

They have this idea that its freedoms for me, not for you because as he has demonstrated, he does not understand what these rights allow for.

How quaint. Somebody disagrees with you so they're a racist and a bigot. You wonder why Trump got elected and the republicans won pretty much everything. America is sick of people claiming racism instead of taking responsibility for their actions.

They are the same who talk about maximizing freedom by gutting vital social services all the while supporting restricting rights on free speech.

Somebody disagrees with you and apparently they should be tried for treason (which generally carries life in prison or the death penalty).

You've just proven you don't understand free speech or The First Amendment. Also your values are not American. They're fascist.

Not really as great as one tries to claim america is it won't change the blood stained foundation of this country. And as old as it is it's still resisting change and improvement. There's not much to be loyal to just yet unless its your family.

This is beyond the pale @n64dd. Even for you. Colin Kaepernick clearly stated he was protesting the injustices against people of color in USA. He is in no way trying to turn other citizens against America.

Matter of fact he modifies his protest from sitting to kneeling out of respect for the country.

Even the most bullheaded must see the necessity of allowing peaceful protest in a free country. Would you prefer the alternative? Taking up arms and violently rebelling?

No, you're a racist and bigot because youve made these arguments before favoring business tactics, as long as its against something you dislike. But when it comes to something you're against, you don't keep the same narrative. In both of these instances its you being against equality for others not like you, which is very telling. Maybe youre not a bigot or racist, but you sure like support racist and bigoted ideas and will go to the extent of arguing them.

Ive noticed the difference is when they are backed into a corner and the topic reaches the point where they need to admit being wrong to some degree, DD will just ditch the topic. But Jacanuk will refuse to admit being wrong on anything and just keep side stepping or creating new, false arguments.

First off, no.

Second your hated football players were protesting the way America treats minorities and then started protesting our very stupid president. They never "protested the flag" as you refuse to acknowledge.

How can anyone from a civilized nation defend that a citizen should be accused of treason for such reason. How silly... but also concerning seeing such nationalist fundamentalism on a so called 1st world nation.

They aren't trying to get people to hate America, they want justice for African Americans being killed by police wrongfully. They are protesting the fact that a white man can be shooting at police and be shot with bean bags, but an African American selling cigarettes is choked to death with an illegal choke hold. I will never stand for the anthem as long as these racial injustices are happening.

The nationalists need to understand what this protest is about.

These poll options are a joke btw. Confused for wanting justice? Yeah, okay

I think DD does believe the things he says. but i think he got tired of having to defend his nonsense from people who are willing to cite and source information and facts.

This is something we see with a lot of "trolls" actually. They claim to be trolling, but the reality is their stances are the same as their trolls, they simply do it in this manner to avoid responsibility.

The fact that we allow people to insult and deface the flag without any legal penalty is what makes us better than other countries that require their citizens to show patriotism by law. Legislative patriotism is not real patriotism.

Of course, those people who intentionally insult and deface the flag are only protected from being punished by the government. A private employer can still fire them because being unpatriotic isn't a protected class like gender, religion, etc.

Nah we can't do shit like that. Free speech is part of what makes America great. Another thing that makes it great is not giving a **** what people think. Nobody is going to convince American citizens to hate anything - they don't have time for that shit. Who cares? Really why care about this?

Just think of how many dumb protests go on that you don't even hear about.

I disagree bro. Jacanuk will be serious at first and then regress into troll mode when he realizes all his points are shot. N64 makes zero sense and is completely warped in his views and is brainwashed by the media he consumes, jacanuk is just a blowhard with little information; but swears he knows everything. Both fail miseably

Also there is plenty of evidence to prove that n64 isn't even American......

Why is it that many of those who support Trump and proclaim to love this country continually advocate actions contrary to its fundamentals? Trump's base almost seems to demonstrate as much of a misunderstanding of what makes America great as Trump does.....almost.

Although I suspect DD is sitting back chuckling at those he's riled up for I have trouble believing any real American can even humor such a thought who doesn't desire to live in fascism, of which hyper-nationalism is a tenet.

They should be tried and found guilty by a jury of peers of alt-right nazis, wrapped in the flag made in China, dipped in napalm produced by DuPont, placed on a pyre of fiberboard wood imported from Canada and mounted to a steel beam made in South Korea, and ignited by a lighter from Pakistan!

No , those protesting the flag or anything else should not be charged with anything.

Freedom of speech is only a freedom until it infringes upon other freedoms. It's putting American police officers in danger.
