It still beggars belief that so many people had no qualms voting for a pedophile.

@deeliman: Not to mention his nonsense policies.

Hopefully more, and more of the country is tired of getting hoodwinked by the giant "R."

According to the polls, Moore lost because of the overwhelming black vote against him. He got the majority white vote. Thank God minorities went into the poll to make sure that animal didn't win.

overwhelming black vote huh? I find that curious. I don't know the demographics of Alabama but I would be shocked if there are enough black people living there to sway an election if the majority of white people voted one way.

Edit: I digress. Doing a quick google search Alabama is over 25% African American. Color me surprised.

Good riddance. It's good to know our country dodged this asshole one more time. 538 has a breakdown of per country voting. Heavily leaning republican counties saw an enormous dip in turnout compared to 2017 numbers, much lower than democratic counties. It appears that plenty of the republican base simply didn't turn out.

Doubt it, most republicans seem completely brainwashed. And as Trump put it, he could should someone in the middle of the street and not lose any supporters.

You will notice in the exit polls that the more educated also voted for the Dem.

People kept talking about the legality of what he was accused of doing but the lack of character to be the bigger issue.

@deeliman: Ironic isn't it. Such blind faith in a party of pathological liars. Though it was that way in Reagan's era as well. Hell they still blindly praise his ass.

And I don't even say this as a democrat. I am independent.

@perfect_blue: Yep. Scary how conservatives still live in this lala land where they have this divine information that should guide the world, but most are intellectual philistines.

I’m so done pretending they aren’t anything but a group of selfish and unscrupulous bigots and hypocrites.

A LOT of red southern states have huge black populations. And it makes sense, these are the states where most slaves were brought........ or should i say, bought.

Pretty much this. As nice as it was for Moore to lose, almost half the state voted for an alleged pedophile who said america was last great during slavery. Alabama will be Alabama for years to come. This vote certainly didn't make the state look good by any means.

This is probably going to turn out like when Scott Brown won Ted Kennedy's seat in Massachusetts. That's the seat Elizabeth Warren is in now. Still, 2018 will most likely be rough for the GOP.

Well true the Republicans have been losing local elections as well. I think Americans woke up to the trump problem.

And then in 8 years they'll wake up from their democrat problem.

And then in 16 years they'll wake up from their republican problem.

And then in 24 years they'll wake up from their democrat problem.

And then in 32 years they'll wake up from their republican problem.

And around and around we go. Never addressing real problems we face and pretending this is not all by design. We will continue to say stupid things like "How are the republicans so stupid to........" or "Why dont the democrats understand!".... instead of holding them accountable for functioning properly under the instructions they are given by their corporate masters.

Right... so people tend to call me an extremist here but i think im simply more of a realist. We know how these situations play out, every history book is littered with these examples and none are nice. We never see power remove itself without force.

So.... We the people have to enact a new constitution and a new court system, charge politicians and CEOs with crimes against the American people and execute them. And this is super unlikely to happen, but probably the option with the least bloodshed.

Sucks right?

And realistically, thats probably the least likely scenario.

The most likely scenarios are another country feels they need to solve the America problem and bombs us all to hell. Or we have a nice long civil war of people versus power and anyone who does not want to live under the wing of corporatism becomes a terrorist.

Damn, amazing that a child molester and pedophile almost won Alabama. That state is just beyond helping, backward as sht. Thank God for black people in the state, plus some whites with some common sense. Also good that a ton of the Republican base just didn't show up to vote.

A lot of people were saying that Roy Moore winning would have been BAD for the GOP, because it gives them a black eye worse than even trump. In Trump's case, he was harrasing adult women, and that softened the blow. Roy Moore, a legit pedo winning likely would have done huge damage to the GOP base. The Dems would have turned out on mass in the 2018 midterm elections, and GOP voters would have been less enthusiastic about voting. In fact I would go so far as to say that Jones was a win for the GOP.

I called it for Roy Moore, not because I support him but because I was pessimistic about the whole thing. I'm glad I was wrong. For this election, black people and young people showed up to vote.

Stop being complacent: Go and vote in your local and state elections. If you don't like how things are run, vote for a candidate that best reflects your interests.

And for those who think they're all the same, ask yourself this: Who supports healthcare reform? Who supports increasing the minimum wage? Who supports not cutting taxes for the wealthy? Who supports vilifying minority groups? Who supports allowing just about anyone to own a gun? And this is just national issues. Look further to what's going on at the local and state level that affects you the most: Does your candidate support building infrastructure projects? Does your candidate support re-education for those who are jobless? Does your candidate actually support policies that hinder voting rights (that's a big one, considering that the GOP relies on low voter turnout).

No, they're not the same and you're an idiot if you think they are. No party is perfect and individuals can have complex and cross-cutting views but no one or party is the same.

Trump effect is dwindling. Seems like anybody he endorses does the complete opposite.

Good to see black people, women in particular, not being apathetic towards voting.

Just released a statement blaming secularism, sodomy, and materialism for his loss and said gods judgement will be coming soon.

I actually agree with much of what the dude said is his morality rant...but what does that have to do with him losing? Americans becoming more atheist or agnostic have nothing to do with you losing an election dude. Ditto for them having a different moral compass on abortion or same sex marriage.

Keep your hands and appendages to yourself and maybe things would've turned out different for you.

Good point. What I guess I was trying to get at was these guys used to be more subtle in their rhetoric.

Roy Moore speaks and acts like the American President from the film Escape From LA.

This is a big issue I have with Moore and his followers. He has no problem letting his closed mind and loose words be made public. In the past uber conservative politicians pretended to have an open mind regarding things they were against. Something can't be deemed wrong to everyone just because you don't agree with it. Kinda goes against the whoe liberty thing USA was founded on.

Have they ever been hinged?

Did you see his wife when she said something like "People say my husband is a antisemitic. Our lawyer is a jew!". I was laughing so hard that i started to cry when i heard it.

Good point. What I guess I was trying to get at was these guys used to be more subtle in their rhetoric.

Roy Moore speaks and acts like the American President from the film Escape From LA.

Which doesn't say anything positive about that voting base......

I tend to think far lefties and progressive are (by and large) irritating and naive fools, because they're naive and foolish, but I'd rather a fool in office any day than a credibly accused child molester. I'm actually a little proud of my fellow Americans that they didn't vote for Moore, especially in a day and age when partisanship means more than truth.

Looks like @Jacanuk was wasting all his time defending an alleged child molester.

Maybe next time.

Yeah, he should learn from the democrats and defend people accused of violently raping people, sexually assaulting others, and lying under oath about their sexual harassment. In fact, if you can you should probably sell the entire party to his wife. Accused rapists do great in blue states, so be sure to get them to glad hand the donors and the crowds.

Being a liberal doesn't mean you are a fan of Democrats, much less Democrats who are accused rapists. Why are you okay with how much power and influence the democratic party gives to an accused rapist with a history of verified sexual misconduct? Why are they even used for fundraisers and stump speeches?

Besides, the Clintons have never been liberal, so I don't see why the fact that they are adored by blue states should make liberals happy.

Swearing to invade Iran and pass TPP is not liberal. Accepting millions of dollars from wall street billionaires to tell show up an them exactly what they want to hear isn't either. Refusing to tell anyone what you told them is just gross. Here is how a liberal would handle these three issue:

1) We are not freaking starting another war in the freaking middle east. How are you more insane then trump? That shouldn't be possible! Stop being more insane then trump this instant!

2) Screw your corpratist BS. TTP must die.

I mean come on, even Hollywood turned on Obama and Clinton over this nonsense.

3) No way I am taking your dirty money Wall street, I will however be glad to show up for free and tell you all the ways you are holding this country back. Lets see if we can get of of my friends to show up to! You will find me outside the building with a bullhorn. Feel free to move the whole even outside.

You asked me about liberal values, I said it was about standing up to rich people, not aiding them. You agreed, and seemed to like the idea that helping them acquire more power was a conservative ideal. The Clintons have always been about giving the rich more money and power. Heck their power comes from money.

They have so much money that the fact that team Clinton has an accused rapist isn't a deal breaker.
