Yup, just as i thought. Gatygun seems to be incorrect, she never used it as a bait for racial votes. It was a decades old gaff only brought up recently by others, making her defend herself. The original claims used against her was she used this "lie" to get ahead in her career a long time ago. But this never happened.

I would say that she didn't use it to get votes. However we don't know for sure if she did it use to get ahead or not. Only she knows the answer that. We can speculate but it's hard to say for sure why she did it.

Because Republicans are better at making fluff gaffs like this stick, while Democrats can't even get Trump's "grab her by the pussy", 12 sexual misconduct allegations, and "No Vacancies for Blacks" (generally career enders, much less campaign enders) to stick.
