Have leftists working for Bioware purposely made sure there are no sexy & attractive women in Anthem?
I've noticed this weird trend to make women in games look very average or manly. Even Spiderman where Mary-Jane looks like Plain Jane.
Just some more progressive cancer spreading throughout the industry.
I looked it up...
Yup, Anthem is a product that has been hemorraging talent. With it swapping leads at an alarming rate. Lead Writers, lead Animator, lead developer, director and even the project lead.
Not everything is hte result of politics. but I guess some people need a boogeyman or bad guy.
@blackhairedhero: I thought Mary Jane was hot. Did you want her to be an investigative journalist snooping around warehouses wearing f*-me heels and a cocktail dress?
I think this says more about your absurd view of women than it does about the development studios depiction of them.
@Baconstrip78: Sure you did. That just tells me you think average looking women look hot. It honestly had nothing to do with her clothes and more to do with her physical appearance. Felicia Harding was far more attractive and is in the same game.
Mary Jane use to be a model and actress so maybe not looking like a girl that would bag my groceries would be a start.
@luzarius: "Leftists" have nothing to do with this. Women are sick and tired of being "meat" to you immature boys.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but still the only character that is acceptable to put "through hell" is a white male character...
Unless I've missed something.

That's the whole plot of the 3 Tomb Raiders reboots though isn't it? Dump an ethnically ambiguous lady into the jungle and have horrible shit ruin her life for a few days.

Eh... She isn't really having it rough. I mean what she does is impressive, but I dare say expected of her. She isn't really brought down. She starts exploring and suddenly find herself in a race with someone who happens to have enough money to buy an army :P
Hmm, should this thread really be in PG? this seems more like a System wars thread since who else cares about how pixels look.
It's borderline. Could go in either place. There have been complaints about to much political talk in SW though.
Explain Cora Harper.
And then explain her butt.
Eh.. I would disagree with her being attractive. Granted it might show better in games than in pictures. I've yet to play ME Andromeda which she is in...?

In the first 5 minutes of the first game, she's captured and thrown upside-down into a torture device and has to escape by setting herself on fire and falling onto a random wrought iron bar that pierces all the way through her abdomen. That's after her ship falls apart in a storm and she almost drowns at sea.
I think by that point we can at least agree she's not having an okay day.

Damn, I have forgotten the first game. I played through the second recently and she is only betrayed by a family friend.

Yea I admit I think the other 2 are more typical stories, but the first is basically straight up torture porn where you gradually watch a woman turn sociopathic and desensitized by an endless stream of nightmarish scenarios. I don't recall everything but she's stabbed, thrown down rapids and through trees, cauterizes herself, watches multiple colleagues murdered, at one point she's almost sexually assaulted. Honestly my biggest complaint about TR2013 is that the story focuses way to hard on ruining her life, and nowhere near enough on the race-to-the-temple main plot line, which is decidedly half-assed by comparison.

Says the side that wants to ban yoga pants and porn IRL, lol.

You can't come here and throw wild accusations like that :P Gonna need source on that.

I guess they wanted to ruin her so they could a few games on focusing on building her up again.

GOP being anti-porn is a long standing thing sadly,

And the Yoga Pants lol,

@zaryia: One guy in Montana wants to ban Yoga pants.. but an entire gaming industry wants every female heroe to look like she should be either bagging your groceries or capable of going bear hunting with a stick.
Seems like a false equivalency lol
Holy shit you people are hilarious.
First off, I don't think it's a leftist agenda. It's more likely something called, idunno...societal change? A massive change in beliefs? Modern standards of beauty and looks?
So while I feel a little sorry for people left behind pining for old-fashioned standards of chainmail bikinis and every female is a supermodel, I remember that this is part of the problem because women in games are just pieces of meat to people like that.
As for "the entire industry" wanting women (and characters in general) to look like grocery baggers (whatever the hell that means) @blackhairedhero: put it, I have to disagree. Let's look at some recent entries:
There's a lot of other examples, but the point I'm trying to make is that there is still plenty of sex appeal in games. You people see change and miss your cliche female characters and just go into conspiracy-theory mode and it's not like that at all. The times are just changing, we are going to a place we should have been a long time ago. Get with the program. You can still have your cake and eat it too.

1. There is far more than 1 anti-Porn Republican.
2. GOP trying to ban porn is quite a bit worse than a few Developers making females slightly less attractive in video games. Agreed, false equivalency, my example was far worse.
@mrbojangles25: Alloy looks fine for the age she lives in and her hair is incredible.

Them being anti porn doesn't surprise me. But the yoga pants thing caught me off guard.

So let´s say that this is true how come you have not seen the same change in movies/tv-shows while there beauty is in the eye of the beholder, you cannot deny that most actresses (and here i am talking about the best-paid actresses) who become a success are all relatively attractive and same goes for the model/advertisement world.
So if this is relative to the gaming industry it´s a safe bet that it´s not a societal change but more a consequence of a vocal, perhaps, far-left minority.

That's a good point, and I will say that this change I spoke of is not total. The majority of video game characters are still hot babes, and the majority of actresses are also hot babes.
But there have also been a lot more not-so-hot women getting a lot of traction as well. Same with advertising. What you might call "real-life" representations. Acceptance of cellulite, be proud of who you are, non-models cast in ad campaigns...things of that nature.
I'm not talking about the "proud to be fat" movement, just you know...not models.
Damn you've been on a thread frenzy today, all of them have sucked equally. Anyhow I don't understand how right-wing gamers love to fap to virtual characters with huge breasts and butts. I mean, it's disturbing to say the least.

Not a supporter of the movement you spoke of, and I think we both have the same feelings towards that one.
But I do agree there are a few women coming up that have been less-attractive but if you notice they are also not nearly as used as the top 10 A-list actresses. Not that mind the more plain Jane people coming up, Beauty is more then skin deep, So as long as they can perform and their acting is making the movie/tv show better, its all good, but I never think there will be a movement that will end the fact that sex and sexiness sells.
So what I think the gaming world is going through are more an issue with finding gimmicks they can sell, they are willing to try anything to get those sales so in a few years.
@horgen: don't even try.
You can go on about subjective beauty but she is clearly objectively beautiful.
I could prove she is hands down beautiful but I did I would be ban from this forum.
She is a beautiful woman it's that you don't like her or find her attractive.
Like how Miranda from Me2 is a beautiful woman and I don't find her attractive.
I think the bigger problem is there willingness to destroy their stories to be politically correct. I didn't really mind it or notice it as much until Mass Effect:Andromeda.
The game and it's mechanics weren't all that bad. It was the writing that hurt the game.
Listening to Cora go on and on about how she identified as an Asari Commando hurt her character.
Smashing the Krogan patricarchy in my opinion was a terrible choice. We have come to expect the Krogan to be a certain way. There was no need to try and make them politically correct or add the most ridiculous slap fight in gaming history.
Then there was just really bad writing throughout. Like "My face is tired." and when the one girl is talking about programs like they were drugs.(I'm guessing the writer does drugs and knows nothing about programming.)
@Damedius: The writing was just awful. Not because it was political or wtv, it was just bad sci-fi. You go to a distant galaxy and the game gives you no sense of discovery. You straight away find other life forms and civilisations, and there's really nothing new going on.
@phbz: let me add to why this game was bad..
This is game made by people would want to make a modern game equivalent to what me1 was with oit knowing what made me1 great.
They did not get the fact the with me their was a feeling that any star system was an in known adventure waiting to happen. In stead the through the great thing abot me1 was driving the rover. And have you stuck on 5 planets
On top of that they picked the laziest planet designs to have any exploration on.
You first have Tatooine. Then you have hoth. A jungle planet. Pandora from borderlands. A doom boggy planet which proved they could have many side mission on inhabbital world but did not. And then arrakis from dune.
None them any note worth missions, stories or story put comes. All pale to comparisons to the loyalty quest which are buried deep in the game.
With the only thing interesting from these planets are the memories you unlock from the main characters father.
They mess up the story badly.
