Poll Rate the Trump presidency in 2018 (37 votes)

A 14%
B 8%
C 5%
D 22%
F 51%

My score is a D. Lets look at some highlights as to why:

  • Stock market is performing at its worst since pre-2010
  • The world is laughing at the U.S for the first time in its history
  • Trump couldn't repeal Obamacare with a republican held congress
  • Mexico didn't pay for the wall, neither did taxpayers
  • Putin won the war in Syria, Assad will come back to power
  • Trump's inner circle are getting indicted left and right
  • Trump payed hookers using campaign finances
  • Trump used his organization to benefit himself instead of his communities (disgusting)
  • He should get banned on Twitter
  • Lost the house
  • Doesn't release his tax returns
  • North Korea hates the U.S again, didn't denuclearize after a big media stunt

-----

Positives?

  • Unemployment went down

Not only did he make it worse but he took the nation on a less fiscally sound course to recover from an impending adjustment. He precipitously built an adjustment into an impending crash as well. If you don't understand Keynesian economics, you cannot fully grasp the damage that Trump has done to the economy let alone strip-mining our ability to turn course for innovative disruptors that could possibly keep America from retaining its market position after a correction let alone a recession or depression.

In real economic terms, the Chinese already have more purchasing power than Americans. The sheer weight of our GDP can let us skate unchallenged for perhaps two more decades but then what? Conservative orthodoxy does not have answers for this. It just has ideology and a long track record of burst bubbles.

The dude is a president, not a king. He doesn't have vast power over the country. Blaming the president for stock market tumbles is ridiculous.

By the way, what happened to the Obama economy? Just a few weeks ago Obama was touting how awesome the economy was and how it was due to his awesomeness. The wage stagnation is Trumps fault, even though they were stagnating years before he took office. All of the growth that Trump predicted and liberal economist called him an idiot for, that was Obama's doing, but then the markets tumbled, and that was Trump.

TOPIC: D. If you asked me a month ago, I'd say B, but his policy in the past few weeks (criminal justice reform, bump stock ban, going soft on the wall) ruins damn near everything. Two years ago, the Republicans who said that we don't need a wall were considered sell outs, now apparently it A-OK. Trump was a law and order guy who was going to bolster defense. Now, apparently not. If I were a Republican congressman, I'd have no idea how to support Trumps agenda, since it's been completely turned on its head.
