Yes, the worlds most narcissistic man-child Donald Trump get's on stage, is asked a question, get's pissy about it, then storms off the stage at a recent press conference.

Link here

So, what are your thoughts?

Were the women being rude and Trumpy-poo had his wittle feelwings hurt?

Or is Trump just being a big baby and quite literally anything that isn't a kiss on the ass will hurt his feelings?

Also, do you think he was being racist? Or was the reporter being overly senstive?

Curious to hear from both sides of this argument, or people on the fence.

------

TL;DR: some reporters were giving Trump a hard time (possibly...one might say they were simply doing their job) and he ran away. Thoughts?

I don't think he was necessarily trying to be racist when he said "Why don't you go ask China" I think he would have said that to a white, black, purple, green, red, etc reporter. With that said...

... I think Trump just continues to prove that a.) he is a weak little baby (or as the french would say a p*****), and b.) he is not cut out for the job.

Hostile reporters aside, a president needs to be strong; if he had a brain and a backbone, he'd have thrown facts back at those fine young women terrible nasty sex objects and put them in their place.

But no. He throws a bit of a hissy fit and then flees. Like a god damn Frenchman*.

*My apologies to the French, even in your worst, most run-away-from-the-enemy moments of WWII, you are braver than Trump.

He spent nearly an hour answering questions, but I understand the narrative that folks like to drive, *especially* those who pander at race issues among others. Reading the transcript in the article highlights a very mild exchange.

Excuse me but remember when Obummer walked out huffing and puffing from a conference when asked tough questions by these patriotic Republicans! LINK

Trump handled those crazy ladies well! How dare they ask difficult questions!? What is this a democratic republic?

Honestly, he got triggered when he saw the reporter was Asian. It's obvious.

People need to get off Trump’s D and go after the Communist Party of China who brought this virus here. China is why we can’t go out. China is why you are out of a job. China is why we can’t go to the movies or a game. China is why we wear a mask and gloves.

The Trump finger pointing and blame game is stupid. China upended our world. Not Trump who was performing a fantastic job for America and erasing years of corruption and incompetence from the Democrats.

But he isn't doing a good job... at all.

We're not testing at the rate Trump claims, nor are we any close to eradicating the virus. The reporter asked a question as to why it has to be a competition and Trump didn't answer it.

I think you may need to get off of "Trump's D" and look how little his administration is doing in response to the virus, regardless of who to blame.

China messing up doesn't mean Trump didn't also mess up. Then again he was praising them for their Corona Virus response.

Also because of Trump's administration, when looking at all factual data.

Huh

1. He was continuing Obama's Economical trend. Yes he gets credit for this, but why are you bashing Democrats when it was their trend too?

2. Trump administration has more "corruption" though. This is a fact, and can be actually counted.

The link I posted has Obama answering questions from congressional Republicans without retreating and making false statements. And he did it nearly an hour and a half.

The video portrays Trump retreating from answering a question because he can't handle it. He made the remark specifically against a reporter who was Asian so now it's questionable because he didn't answer it or try to clarify.

80,000 dead and counting in the U.S.

1,000,000 million infected and counting in the U.S.

Tests are unreliable and aren't as numerous as the administration claims to be.

Medical supplies are in short supply.

That's not winning. That's not doing a great job and most of his appointees are incompetent. Some of state and local leadership do share the blame but federal action is severely lacking and needed.

He's not doing a good job. He was never doing a good job. And he's not doing his job, especially when intelligence agencies told him how serious the whole thing was back in January. Instead, he held rallies and ignored it.

We've had intelligence mishaps and mistakes made in previous administrations but instead of trying to lie about it, they tried to rectify the problem and succeeded for the most part. This isn't an example of that happening.

@drunk_pi: I'm sure there's a variety of long exchanges between the current President and prior Presidents with Congressional members including Q&A opportunities/discussions, much like press briefings.

The President isn't very tactful in addressing poor questions, as the usual response from him is typically boorish and blunt.

Again, 80,000 dead in the U.S. and 1,000,000 infected in the U.S. The numbers are going up and the Trump Administration is doing barely anything.

We can all agree that the Chinese government made the mistake of hiding the virus and downplaying it. We can all agree that their unregulated markets in wildlife trade is to blame and that the lack of response from China is serious.

But right now, the Trump Administration downplayed the virus, peddled conspiracy theories and pseudo-medicine, and people are suffering for it.

If Congress put out legislation that declared war on China, it doesn't mean shit because it doesn't change the lack of response from the Trump Administration in preventing 1,000,000 Americans getting infected and 80,000 Americans dying.

I don't care if you're raging against China and want others to rage for it. China isn't responsible for the actions of the U.S. government. Trump is and he's failing.

I'm sure that in the variety of long exchanges between current presidents and prior presidents with either congressional members and press briefings, you'll find that presidents - Republican and Democrat - have answered questions tactfully and dutifully without much issue and regardless if the question was dumb or not without retreating.... like a B*tch. You'll find presidents who were fair and blunt or maybe wishy-washy.

He didn't provide a blunt answer. He avoided the question. The question asked, regarding why it has to be a competition in testing (which btw, the U.S. is lagging, not winning) wasn't a poor question but I guess if I was riding the "trump train," I guess I too would have to make excuses to compensate for a whiny president.

The reporter asked a tough and fair question. Trump couldn't answer it because he doesn't know how to do his job. ;)

lol at the Obama gate question/answer in the same event,

Q: “What crime exactly are you accusing President Obama of committing, and do you believe the Justice Department should prosecute him?”

Trump had nothing.

A: “Uh, Obamagate. It’s been going on for a long time,” he began. “It’s been going on from before I even got elected, and it’s a disgrace that it happened, and if you look at what’s gone on, and if you look at now, all this information that’s being released — and from what I understand, that’s only the beginning — some terrible things happened, and it should never be allowed to happen in our country again.”

Our POTUS is nuts.

The virus could have come from anywhere, and clearly China have not been the only irresponsible parties; Italy, the US, and Sweden (I think it was Sweden) were all pretty terrible about handling the virus.

Blaming China at this point is....I don't know, I want to say an outlet for suppressed racism? But let's just say it is pointless and misguided.

If that's the case I will have to go over the transcript and/or watch the video.

I still don't think he was being overtly racist, but he certainly could have responded better.

At the same time, even if those reporters hate Trump's guts, they could afford to respect the office if they can't respect the man. Plus, you know, you catch more flies with honey; butter Trump up with some easy questions that make him feel good, and they might be able to get something out of him.

Did any if you actually watch the whole conference and when this happened? The reporters whole purpose in asking that question was to get a rise out of Trump, which worked perfectly. I'm sure CBS is praising her. And yes, she did happen to be Chinese, but what does that have to do with anything? The virus started in China. China's to blame for the deaths. That's why he said to ask China. Not because of her race. Trump will never get a break but at least people are taking notice to how twisted the media is now.

Wrong. Blaming China is the only conclusion. That’s not racist - it’s reality. If you don’t blame China, then you allow their wet markets to continue, allow their communist government continue to lie to the world (including their own people), and allow it to go unpunished. Remember SARS, remember H1, now wuhan virus? Obviously there’s a pattern here so continuing to not lay blame or forget how it happens means it’ll continue.

@LJS9502_basic: The intent was obvious. You are the worst debater on these forums so I'm not going to sit here and bother discussing it with you. And for the rest reading this, Trump is trying to reassure the American people that America, the country that he has some control over, is doing it's best in getting testing done. Not just in numbers but in quality of tests also. The media wont report on that though. Yes I sound like Trump there, but he's not wrong in that regards.

How does blaming China fix the mortality and infection rate we're having here?

How does blaming China fix the institutions exposed as fragile and inept caused by Covid-19?

No one is giving China a pass. There's acknowledgement of their failure to contain it and to allow its wet markets to continue despite repeated offenses. But even with those offenses, governments worldwide were able to contain it and respond to it.

And for the rest reading this, Trump is trying to reassure the American people that America, the country that he has some control over, is doing it's best in getting testing done. Not just in numbers but in quality of tests also. The media wont report on that though. Yes I sound like Trump there, but he's not wrong in that regards.

You cannot know what someone else's intent is. Also trump is lying about how well America is doing. We are behind. Why is South Korea which had their first case the same day so far ahead of the US?

I'll ignore your ad hominem attack since you can't debate worth shit.

It's funny as **** to watch the president run away from people asking him questions.

This coward is really who so many republicans think of as tough, it would be hilarious if it weren't so damn sad.

Dude... Stop.

A quick google search and you have articles from reputable news sites talking about testing in the U.S. It's not enough and it's not enough to open up a country.

The Trump Administration isn't doing much on testing. The media is talking about it and are reporting the facts.

Seriously, I've probably met cultists with better common sense here.

@drunk_pi: If I have SARS and I knowingly infect your offspring with the disease and he/she dies - should I not be punished? I get cured of SARS but now I develop H1 (swine flu) and knowingly infect your other offspring and he/she dies, should I just be left alone and ignored...again? If I’m cured of H1 but now develop the wuhan virus....

You see where I’m going with this.

@LJS9502_basic: You have a recent link about South Korea's numbers regarding testing? The latest one I could find says per capita, the US is ahead of South Korea. You should compare a country closer to US size if you want to compare apples to apples.

You see where I’m going with this.

If I slapped you for being an idiot, does it cure my SARs? No, it doesn't. If some asshole shot me and ran away, should I go on a bench and start ranting how much that asshole sucks while I bleed to death? No, I hold pressure to my wound, call 911, go to the fucking hospital, hope they stitch me up, and call the police so they can catch the asshole who shot me. And lets not imply that the Chinese people and its government knowingly infected people as there is no proof in that ridiculous claim.

Again, you're not getting it. No on is excusing the inaction of the Chinese government, from its piss-poor response to viral infections to lack of regulations (a great irony in why regulation and wild-life protection is important, despite conservatives usually opposing such unrelated measures in the U.S.).

The problem in the U.S. is that we have an administration that is incompetent. We can't afford incompetence as people are dying and getting infected, people are losing their jobs, and the economy is tanking. But the worst part is that it exposes the fragility of our political and economic institutions and its incapability of responding to such a viral disease. We have an administration that ignored the warning signs, ignored sound science, peddled conspiracy theories, and is trying to reopen a country that doesn't have the testing capacity to do so.

Blaming China isn't going to do anything. If we went to war against China right now, it wouldn't solve our problems right now. People are dying, people are getting infected, people can't afford rent and other payments, people's lives are getting uprooted, and we have a do-nothing administration that is peddling bullshit. We're bleeding but we're not covering our wounds.

Get that through your head and grow up.

Look, if you think I am calling you racist...don't. That's only one of a few reasons I can think of to blame China. Admittedly the other reasons make you an emotional tool or an idiot instead of a racist, so take your pick I guess.

As for those reasons to blame China, none of them are particularly good or productive

At the end of the day, we are responsible for our own shortcomings. 80,000 people dead and 1 million sick is not China's fault. Sitting here wringing our hands going "If only it weren't for China" is completely the wrong way to go about it.

Plus, all of the above is moot: if it was China's fault, what purpose does it serve (for the moment) to sit here blaming them and not doing much else? When it's over we can go after China. But if we decimate our populous and economy, there won't really be a way to go after China.

You see this all the time when people are scared. They worry, they blame, and they scapegoat. I'm guilty of it, too; I blame Trump for doing a bad job. But the difference is I am blaming someone that can still make things better, but chooses not to.

The reporter asked a leading question.

Trump did a stupid deflection.

The reporter then baited Trump with offense.

Trump spit the dummy and walked off stage.

Seriously, if Trump can't handle a belligerent reporter, he is completely unfit to operate on the world stage. I know his whole shtick is that he isn't a politician - but it really shows here, since politicians know exactly how to handle questions like these.

Really, REALLY?!? Don’t play the race card here dude. It’s wrong.

I feel like you might be missing the point here.

China should be independently investigated for their response to the Covid-19 outbreak. I wouldn't be surprised if they misreported numbers and downplayed the deadliness of the virus - but that needs to actually be established with evidence.

So people can question China on that front. But people also need to question each country's government on their own response to this pandemic.

In this case, a reporter was asking Trump why he keeps making a big deal about the testing numbers as if they are an indicator of success, while the reality is that huge numbers of people are dying in the US. Rather than addressing the issue of his government's response, Trump avoided the question and started talking about the China issue.

Trump then threw a tantrum and walked off stage, which is separately really amusing and says a lot about his ability to lead a country.
