He spent nearly an hour answering questions, but I understand the narrative that folks like to drive, *especially* those who pander at race issues among others. Reading the transcript in the article highlights a very mild exchange.
If that's the case I will have to go over the transcript and/or watch the video.
I still don't think he was being overtly racist, but he certainly could have responded better.
At the same time, even if those reporters hate Trump's guts, they could afford to respect the office if they can't respect the man. Plus, you know, you catch more flies with honey; butter Trump up with some easy questions that make him feel good, and they might be able to get something out of him.
I don't think anyone has expectations of Trump responding well/tactfully to reporters. The relationship between him and the press is so jaded/rigid that there's no point in having a ... even moderate bar for him to reach. It's a sad reflection of the office, but hardly anything that I consider news worthy. Trump will do his thing along with the reporters trolling him; then we will see a sling of poorly worded tweets and triggered internet warriors. Rinse and repeat.
