He spent nearly an hour answering questions, but I understand the narrative that folks like to drive, *especially* those who pander at race issues among others. Reading the transcript in the article highlights a very mild exchange.

If that's the case I will have to go over the transcript and/or watch the video.

I still don't think he was being overtly racist, but he certainly could have responded better.

At the same time, even if those reporters hate Trump's guts, they could afford to respect the office if they can't respect the man. Plus, you know, you catch more flies with honey; butter Trump up with some easy questions that make him feel good, and they might be able to get something out of him.

I don't think anyone has expectations of Trump responding well/tactfully to reporters. The relationship between him and the press is so jaded/rigid that there's no point in having a ... even moderate bar for him to reach. It's a sad reflection of the office, but hardly anything that I consider news worthy. Trump will do his thing along with the reporters trolling him; then we will see a sling of poorly worded tweets and triggered internet warriors. Rinse and repeat.

Blaming China is stupid. It wont achieve anything.

The Virus is out and everywhere. Finger pointing china, wont solve problems, as much as working on actual solutions. Trump is very much getting in the way of those solutions.

Hence why people say his response has been dismal.

@drunk_pi: But what about China? Where’s your rage and anger there?

The virus could have come from anywhere, and clearly China have not been the only irresponsible parties; Italy, the US, and Sweden (I think it was Sweden) were all pretty terrible about handling the virus.

Yeah, we (Sweden) have done a terrible job.

We basically have a policy of do-nothing. Just throw out some guidelines and hope people actually adhere to them.

@mrbojangles25: The reporter was overly sensitive in this case. Trump gives you so much racist and sexist rhetoric it can be hard to tell.

Wrong. Blaming China is the only conclusion. That’s not racist - it’s reality. If you don’t blame China, then you allow their wet markets to continue, allow their communist government continue to lie to the world (including their own people), and allow it to go unpunished. Remember SARS, remember H1, now wuhan virus? Obviously there’s a pattern here so continuing to not lay blame or forget how it happens means it’ll continue.

Really, REALLY?!? Don’t play the race card here dude. It’s wrong.

Stop blaming China for Trump's complete lack of leadership. China is not responsible for the Republican party's utter failure in dealing with this situation in US.

Yeah, US and China are not the only two countries in the planet, and when other countries deal with the pandemic so much better and protect its citizens so well, US has no excuse.

Everybody says we handled it the worst but we’re in the middle for fatality rate and have done more tests than anybody.

I get you need something to be mad at but not one country handled this “well”. Since nobody has even stated what number of fatalities would have been acceptable you’re all just screaming at the sky and calling it pink instead of blue.

Trump handled it very very poorly according to experts and data.

Nothing you type on this forum will change that.

Meanwhile, your post boils down to you sounding like an anti-vaccer or flat earther. Or climate-denier, like Trump.

Facts do not care about your feelings, N69DD.

He was wrong, facts are facts. Trump is not an expert in this field with a PHD. Several who do have the education say he has been wrong, as do multiple studies or simple fact checks. He screwed up on this. No matter WHAT you say. He screwed up, bigly. That's a fact. He should just listen to the experts as he has been wrong on every turn. I know this is all mostly about his election, but a lot of people are doing for that. Unlike those commercials I can cite my work:

Doctors > failed casino guy.

  2. The government whistleblower who says the Trump administration's coronavirus response has cost lives
  3. Trump's rebuke of Fauci encapsulates rejection of science in virus fight

People need to get off Trump’s D and go after the Communist Party of China who brought this virus here. China is why we can’t go out. China is why you are out of a job. China is why we can’t go to the movies or a game. China is why we wear a mask and gloves.

The Trump finger pointing and blame game is stupid. China upended our world. Not Trump who was performing a fantastic job for America and erasing years of corruption and incompetence from the Democrats.

But he isn't doing a good job... at all.

We're not testing at the rate Trump claims, nor are we any close to eradicating the virus. The reporter asked a question as to why it has to be a competition and Trump didn't answer it.

I think you may need to get off of "Trump's D" and look how little his administration is doing in response to the virus, regardless of who to blame.

This is so real.

I don't really understand why he even has press conferences if he hates journalists in the first place, clearly he prefers to use Twitter to throw out his insane ramblings and to his benefit he can more easily ignore any critical comments back on that platform.

Trump's snide comments always have a negative attitude directed towards different ethnic people. He just tries to slide them in there and act aloof when he offends people. He is the epitome of a buffoon.

Fatality rates will be debatable until we got mass testing and can account for excessive deaths. The only thing that isn't debated anymore is whether or not the regular flu is more lethal...

Edit: Also on a forum it is a highly accepted form of debating. You make a statement, back it up with something.

But I provided a paragraph of statements. It was written by me. And then I merely backed it up at the end with links.

If I did not provide links at the end of my statement paragraph you wouldn't be mad. You're literally just mad that I beat you in a debate and made it impossible for you to come up with a valid reply.

No one counters it though. They do what you two are doing now, they change the subject to complain about links.

I linked factual articles for the most part....with studies and expert analysis. Why can't you refute them if you're so sure they are wrong. Why is all of the data against what Trump is saying? Why does he end up wrong at every turn? Why do the studies and Fuaci say the opposite?

SHOW ME how Trump is right and the Scientists are wrong. And I will concede.

When did I link a poll to argue the fatality rates were worst?

Can you quote this pleas n69DD?

You seem to be lying quite a bit. But that is not hard when you peddle Q-Anon shit like how there was no russian interference or how Covid-19 wasn't as bad as the Flu or a nothingburger in March. You were wrong about it just like Trump was. Just like with using hydro, or it going away in April, or the vaccine, or using lysol, or opening too soon, or testing, etc.

Trump really fucked up with his response, what a disaster.

You also claim that trump didnt lock things down fast enough and also say our economy went to shit. You can’t lock things down faster causing unemployment to go higher and expect the economy to stay the same or go up.

My statements (backed up by numbes) aren't wrong "because" just because you think so. You have to actually prove the studies, fact checks, and data I linked are incorrect.

He was wrong to ignore experts and acted too slow in self interest.

He was unprepared, and slow.

He was wrong about it going away in April.

He was wrong about testing.

He was wrong about Hydro.

He was wrong about it being as bad as the flu and downplayed it in general. (AS WERE YOU)

He disagrees with Fauci on testing and opening schools, based off of nothing.

He disagrees on experts for quick reopening, based off of nothing.

Thus the experts (scientists and doctors) see this as a hugely failed response, and continued failed decisions for a reason.

He screwed up. This will go down in the history books as his colossal failure. I even hyperlinked it so you wouldn't get so pissy and change subjects. I tried to include more direct fact checks sources and studies to also give you less chances to Troll reply.

BTW,

Texas, North Carolina, Arizona see rising cases as they reopen

If you can explain why I should listen to Trump over peer reviewed data, and direct statements from experts such as Fauci (among many others), I will not only never use a link again but I will vote for Trump.

I even hyperlinked it for you with my own paraphrasing this time so you wouldn't get upset like a little baby.

But like Trump you're going to just flee the scene I guess.

He screwed up... how? Because he was (and is) confident that things will get better? Because he was (and is) hopeful that X drug would work?

Are you upset that he's not preaching the same kind of doom and gloom that the likes of Vox and NPR are reporting?

I still find it funny how so many of those sources you link were all suggesting that the blue wave would begin with special election wins in California and Wisconsin. I've been looking for follow up articles to those and can't seem to find any...

@zaryia: it’s wrong because our fatality rate is in the middle of best to worst and you link sensationalism to say we are the worst and its all trumps fault.

You also claim that trump didnt lock things down fast enough and also say our economy went to shit. You can’t lock things down faster causing unemployment to go higher and expect the economy to stay the same or go up.

Pick one and be consistant.

Really, you're going to complain about "sensationalism"?

Why don't you hit back the same way?

Because what they're referring to are "citations." Their arguments are often meritless and either have no sources or weak sources to cite.

So... They got nothing to support their argument? And complain about those who do?

Exactly. If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither on your side, pound the table.

Being slow to act, failing on test, ignoring the warnings, dismantling certain systems beforehand, not being prepared before hand even though he was told years ago we needed this, and yes offering fake confidence which his administration seemed to work in mind of.

My links above your post show these facts.

Yes, that's part of it. Peddling fake answers is dumb. As is saying expert analysis is wrong or saying it's not that bad or it's not as bad as the flu. That's all bad. As was his response.

The Lyson thing just showed he's a nutjob.

None of my fact check links in my post above yours said that. Neither did the studies I linked or the Scientists I quoted. Stay on topic.

N64DD, as recently as a year or 2 ago, was a fairly reasonable fellow. He held some ideas and beliefs that I thought were silly or wrong, but he'd honestly engage with you, accept reputable sources, and incorporate new information into his worldview.

Trump broke him.

He's not worth engaging with anymore for reasons you can see in this very thread. He refutes reputable sources on the mere grounds that you provided them to him rather than "debate without sources." That shields him from having to incorporate any new information into his worldview because any information you show him is invalid by definition. And with that shielding of information and inability to be challenged, he's able to drop any pretenses of intellectual honesty.

The only reason to even respond to him at this point is to talk around him to the others in the room.

I made that last point because there's a clear bias in many of the sources that you pad your posts with, and I have better things to do with my time than to continue beating that dead horse. Him "hoping" that the virus would be gone by April is not a screw-up on his part, it's a straight-up nothingburger. It literally means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Him "dismantling certain systems beforehand" is a dishonest statement... why not mention that those personnel were allocated to other areas? Peddling fake answers is dumb... mkay, sure. The only "real" answer then would be a vaccine, which may never truly happen.

How about we start focusing on the here and now though? I get that you want to shift as much blame to Trump as possible, but it seems more sensible at this point to see how the virus is being handled on a state level.

You know what else you'll see if we start focusing on the here and now? Trump's approval rating is now at an all-time high and he's beating Biden in key battleground states.

Prove those fact checks are wrong or biased. Most of my new sources were well known fact check sites or simple peer reviewed studies. Or direct quotes from Fuaci...

Please show me the bias in the studies at least. Perhaps reality is biased against the right when it comes to most science issues?

I'd run away too if all facts said I was wrong.

He did. He opened with a straw-man. You know this.

Everyone: "Trump did badly."

N64DD: "BUT AT LEAST HES NOT THE WORST GLOBALLY RIGHT?!".

These comments that sparked this "debate",

Everybody says we handled it the worst but we’re in the middle for fatality rate and have done more tests than anybody.

I get you need something to be mad at but not one country handled this “well”. Since nobody has even stated what number of fatalities would have been acceptable you’re all just screaming at the sky and calling it pink instead of blue.

Trump handled it very very poorly according to experts and data.

Nothing you type on this forum will change that.

Many countries did handle it better though, and do have more testing per capita. Although that entire comparison is a fallacy he even managed to LIE inside of his fallacy.
