You shouldn't be surprised since you can't blame guns on the bombings. Especially when you see that Trump's typo about the bombings got more attention in some places than the actual bombings.

Then there is the fact that #easterworshippers is trending for reasons not related to sympathy for the victims.

Are you surprised the left is quiet? because it shouldn´t be a surprise that they are quiet right now when it´s not something they can use for their political gain.

And yes it´s very telling that 364 people´s lives are worth nothing to the left who are surprisingly quiet even Omar and Harris are strangely quiet compared to when New Zealand happened.

I think it has more to do with finding an excuse to attack the white man. The shooter thread was not really a discussion about guns, but 90% about the toxicity of white nationalism, sites like 8chan which help propagate it, and white privilege, per usual. The outrage culture at ERA is nearly exclusively predicated on such bases.

Aside, I'd like to hear your opinion on why you believe Trump makes these typos? Do you think it is some undiagnosed mental condition and he doesn't understand that he's doing it? Is he intentionally trolling to divert? Manipulation? Does he know people will jump on it? I believe it to be the latter but would like to hear your speculation.

The left is far too gutless to make a serious condemnation of, arguably, the most harmful faith in our lifetime. We all know how the left would act if the rolls were reversed. CNN and MSNBC would have perpetual erections as they harshly condemned the white man, the christian, the firearm owner, etc.., The sad part is how these people don't even try and hide their agenda.

On the first page I noticed how you poorly equated Christianity and Islam which isn't surprising. Being blunt though, I'd expect those with influence (not you but the MSM) to address the situation realistically as it does with other issues.

I edited my link above before you posted this to redirect to Pew Research. Which is the same group that did the study you link to. However, the study I link to is more recent.

I already have my opinions why many of the people so quick to pour in condemnation for Christchurch were either silent or were careful with their condolences for the bombings. It's mostly based on politics (AOC tweeted 14 times about Christchurch which involved guns but zero times about Sri Lanka which involved bombs, for example), but I honestly think some of it has to do with fear. But that will be for another post.

I can't say why Trump has typos. It could be his autocorrect gone wrong, it could be him simply not proofreading, or it could be some other issues I am not medically qualified to point out. But it is also possible some of them are intentional to get more attention to what he is talking about; especially when you see how some people only mentioned the bombings in order to make fun of him for the error, which they wouldn't have even reported on otherwise.

Regarding your argument, I tend to approach the issue from the perspective that it isn't about religion per se. It is about the absence of the rule of law, insufficient pluralism, weak or non-existent societal institutions, etc. Those things keep in check the excesses of religion; which IMO is simply one way to divide people into different groups. Sadly, I think the absence of religion would only remove one of the factors of division and another driver would be substituted....leading to the same type of results when the counter balancing forces of the type I identified are not present.

Yeah, but I have the attitude of "be present and counted". I'm not so much arguing to win but to just have that that side of the argument out there. There are an increasing number of rational beings in the world, and I think that's worth the struggle.

All the signs were there and the government did nothing about it. Preachers who speak of inciting violence need to be held accountable PRIOR to people committing acts. I think we need to stop acting like Islam (or any other Abrahamic religion) is peaceful. We don't need religion in the modern world. Let it sit in the dustbin of history at this point.

Fact is Muslims kill Christians in far, far greater numbers than the otger way around, and yet in the aftermath of one huge such attack you are choosing to draw a false equivalence. Most of the terrorists you'd cite, the lone wolf far Right ethnostatists etc aren't even motivated by Christianity anyway, certainly not primarily.
