You know the funny part is both parties are literally arguing over .11% of the total federal spending. This amount is just a like a dime to our own personal budgets that is how ridiculous this is! If democrats think the wall will not work let him build it and prove it. It will only help them later on the next election.

I can't believe we have a governmental shutdown over such a little amount of money in the grand scheme of the total budget.

It's not just about the money. Though increasing spending after decreasing revenue is insane. But that is a simplistic view.

Trump should shutdown 85% of the government, including most functions of the court. The only thing left over would be some defense but that would also be scaled back 60-70%. The IRS to collect taxes and pay down the debt. Since the spending will be down by a huge chunk, we can make big time dent in the debt. There will be no deficit either. Good on trump, shut it all down and pay down the debt.

@horgen: I did say only 85% of services. Whatever is absolutely necessary funding for disabled/handicapped people shouldn't be scrapped but that's about it. That and some funding for the military, which would itself be scaled back 70%.

There's a ton of spendings that can be cut and the debt paid down instead. The repayment of the debt is the fundamental issue.

A small problem would be the 2-3(or more) million people without a job directly and how many more would be affected by those not having a job anymore have to restrict their spending extremely until they get a new job.

Aren't about half of the affected people today still at work just being unpaid?
