SNES or Genesis

The only advantage the SNES has over the SMD is a deeper colour palette.

It can be a significant advantage though and there are games which look better than on the SMD.

But games like this tend to be designed for the SNES specifically. Sometimes the Mode effects are actually useful too and not bungled or included as an afterthought.

The SNES was our first family console.

It's also the first thoughts that come to mind when I think of my parents, how they put the kids to bed, and then play Mario Kart into the night with friends.

For me clearly the SNES.
