What old school game are you playing right now?

Being a person who started playing as a kid in later 90's, and also a fan of RPGs, who is hugely disappointed by current condition of these games I decided to make a trip to the roots(more, or less), and a give the (in)famous Wizardry 6, and 7 a chance - got it on Steam.

Armed with fully printed manual, and clue book, but pen&paper still in range, the adventure looks really promising.

Journey to Silius for NES

Final Fantasy 6. This game is something else. I have reached the World Of Ruin part. Enjoying every single bit of it, but taking it slowly.

Also Super Mario 64 on the Wii virtual console. Trying to 100% complete it right now.

Currently picking at Persona 2 Innocent Sin psp version (does this count? Was originally a ps1 game) after that will play Persona 2 Eternal Punishment)(PS1) might play through Parasite Eve soon as well

Actually I just started playing Sword Quest of all things!

I've been playing Shenmue lately, but rather than doing the main quest, I keep getting distracted by the toy capsules and Space Harrier, lol.

Finished up a temporary addiction to M.U.S.H.A. Ended with a no death run. The game deserves all the hype it gets. It really is one of the best shooters out there. The music is phenomenal. I like that it doesn't gimmick the player into mode switching like some shooters. It stresses zoning out more than anything else. All about the "reverse".

Going for a change of pace now. I found Final Fantasy 6 and Vagrant Story for 5 dollars a piece. Might start one of those, as Beyond Oasis just felt really really cheap.

Shenmue on the Dreamcast.

Still playing earthbound.

I beat Shenmue, and now I'm playing Skies of Arcadia.

On dreamcast I hope? I started a file of Skies, but i'm finishing earthbound first!

Yeah, I'm playing it on Dreamcast. I've never actually played it before, but I'm liking it so far.

Started a playthrough of Final Fantasy VII on my PC. Just got outside of Midgar. I wish Square would release Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy IX on PC. :(

I am going to pick Thief back up, which I played a lot of near the end of the semester. I'm about halfway through, at the Lost City level. Game still holds up today. It was really ahead of its time.

I just started Castlevania going to try and play them in order!

I started playing master system games for the first time in my life. So far I have played:

Ninja Gaiden, fun but not nearly as good as the nes version

Danan, also fun, just a little short and easy

Spellcaster: pretty terrible game but for some reason I feel compelled to keep playing

Anyone have any good sugesstions for master system games that are not just ports of genesis/nes games?

I guess Yggdra Union qualifies as old school now, playing the PSP version(original is on GBA).

Just beat Eternal Darkness for the first time last night. Never got a chance to play back in the day because I didn't own a GameCube but I recently bought a Wii and this was one of the first games I purchased. I really enjoyed the game even though it is definitely dated. The story was pretty interesting. Now I'm going to play the Metroid Prime trilogy and probably download some virtual console games from the NES/SNES/Genesis era(s).

I beat Skies of Arcadia last week, and it was a great ride. It doesn't do anything that revolutionary, but the setting and overall positive theme of the game is really enjoyable and refreshing compared to the downers most rpgs tend to be. In a lot of ways it reminds me of One Piece, so it wouldn't surprise me if SoA was inspired by it. I usually don't like this genre, but Skies of Arcadia now officially belongs on my short list of favorites.

The next game that I'm working on is Shenmue II.

I still need to finish skies. I'm really really really REALLY REALLY enjoying phantasy star IV right now. Amazing game.

kid chameleon(genesis, using save states, seriously how the f does that game not have a password or save feature, what were the developers thinking when they made a game 100 levels long and no way to save progress, IMO that single fact made the game unplayable garbage when it was released)

alien soldier (genesis) and plan on starting astal on saturn once I am done with crysis 2 and alien soldier.

finished suikoden 1. now im playing suikoden 2. really liking it, but i had to repeat the game 2 different times because of certain runes and missing a character to recruit

I'm replaying Fallout just after playing 3 and New Vegas. Getting my ass kicked.

Well I am currently playing pokemon red - although I don't have my good old gameboy colour anymore, and some of you might know this but when pokemon stadium came out on nintendo 64, you could buy a controller attachment through which you can play red blue and yellow (the game just plugs in). Which is pretty cool! So I am playing through my nintendo 64 - which of course is super retro on its own. But just love it as much as the new ones (maybe even more!). Anyone else has pokemon stadium? Also tried playing Zelda ocarina of time on my PC couple weeks ago, but it wasn't really working properly so I gave up as it became too frustrating.

I just finished building my Raspberry Pi 2 player arcade system so I am playing a bunch of old ass games. Most notably Metal Slug, love Metal Slug

I just completed the Sega Master System version of Ninja Gaiden... That game still holds up incredibly well after all these decades. Definitely my favourite Ninja Gaiden game of all time (or ninja game of any kind).
