What retro game beats most modern games?

Consider this: out of all the video games that have been released since the birth of the personal computer, Tetris is still played with the core experience in most iterations being the same to this day. We have professional careers and tournaments for Tetris, but at the same time it’s so accessible even children and the elderly who don’t know what a computer is can play it.

Sure there are other games that are more complex, actually have a story (while Tetris doesn’t), are more accessible, and have endured as long as it has (if not more so). spacebar clicking

But there aren’t many games that are better than it in all aspects.

Tetris is a good one, in fact I'd say a lot of puzzle games like Puyo and Bust a Move fit this as well. A lot of old 2D games got some simple mechanics nearly perfect like Pac-Man, Mega Man, Castlevania but this list could go on for a while. I'm going to focus on 3D games to keep this short, and for me there are two thatperfected their genre and have yet to be matched:

F-Zero GX. This is may favorite game of all time. No furure racer plays faster or smoother. I have gotten many other games in the genre trying to scratch my F-Zero itch, and there are some good ones out there, but they can't touch this. It's the reason my Gamecube has never been put in storage.

Power Stone. Considering how many anime arena brawlers Namco shits out in any given year, you'd think one should have bested Power Stone even if just by accident. But alas it is not the case. Two decades later, this is as close to perfect the genre ever got.

F.E.A.R. it still has the best A.I and combat then any modern FPS.

Wave Race 64 have better water physics than almost every jet ski game in the last 20 years.
