From what Sega says the game has this night/day engine hopefully along the lines of something like Zeld in that it slowly changes to night and thus at night is when Sonic "changes."

Let's face it, we still don't know much about this game. We'll have to wait for E for All.

Half of the "features" will be thrown out, or half-implemented by the time the game reaches the shelves. Sonic 2006 was shown off originally, and hyped up JUSt because of the daytime-cycle, which in the end, wasn't even implemented. Perhaps this is the same cycle, and they decided to place it within another game due to time restrictions. It seems to suit this game a whole lot better really. It would have doen nothing to the other game. Here, it takes Sonic into a whole new style of gameplay, which better be worth it!

I'm going to list 10 of my own things that I think need to change about Sonic. Some of these may have already been said. If so, oh well.

1. It's Robotnik, not Eggman

2. Get rid of the voice actors altogether.

3. Remix some classic genesis era tunes and use that as the soundtrack. No more of this crush40 b.s.

4. Eliminate every single extra character in the series, big, amy, shadow, silver, rogue, all of them. I'm fine with Tails and Knuckles but give me the option to play only as sonic.

5. Quit with the exotic storylines. Robotnik vs. Sonic in the battle for Mobius. He who hold the chaos emeralds wins.

6. return to classic sonic pacing. 2 speed stages and a boss fight. This was basically done right with Heroes.

7. bring back a spin dash that MEANS something.

8. Make more than just 6-7 stages per game.

9. checkpoints = special stages. Do something amazing and unheardof. Give me a reason to get those emeralds.

10. Don't rush things. Take time to get your camera right. Take time to get the controls fluid. Take time to minimize load screens. Take time to smooth out the frame rate. Take time to make something amazing.

I believe that my union once discussed the spin-dash's increasing uselessness.

Really what the 3D games need to do is give you the ability to turn into a ball at any point, like you can do in the 2D games by pressing down. Sonic Adventure has it because if you juts tapped B you went into a ball instead of using the spindash, but in SA2 they put in the somersault, so you could no longer get up to crazy speeds going downhill. Same with Heroes and that completely useless... whatever they called it. Team rocket? No that's pokemon. Rocket Accel?

Rocket Accel was a pretty fun way to trash enemies or speed through obstacles..

1. It's Robotnik, not Eggman

whoozwah
Both names are fully correct. Robotnik was first for US folk, and Eggman was first for the Japanese.

then my statement should have read, "return to localized names for the Evil Doctor"

In SA2 you have to hold the button and do a quick spindash, but rolling downhill can be done.

The SH spin-dash thing was 9-ways useless. The part that stated you had to sue it (when you were going through the air fleet) could easily be passed by just running.
It doesn't help it had such a short range, neeeded everyone to be in place before even attempting to start it, and had complicated timing I neer bothered trying to learn.

It's isn't that hard to use.You just hold the B button until the others come behind you. At that moment, you can use it. Still, you can progress without it, but, like in the other Sonic games, it's less fun that way.

I prefer the SA system: He himself is Dr. Robotnik, but Sonic and friends call him Eggman because he is fat.

Yeah, that was actually kinda funny. At least they didn't completely trash the name "Robotnik", but both names sound stupidly funny, so I don't mind whichever one they go with.
