I think I'm the only person who hates this game... .-.zmanrwksIt's not my favorite. I marvel at all the love it gets, with some calling it the best one ever, but it's not bad by any means. It's much, much, MUCH more exploration heavy. The game will last you all of 20 minutes if you don't go hunting around and exploring the various time zones. Unfortunately, Sonic's controls and level design are usually not conducive to free exploration, so the game suffers some for it.

I've often said this is a "love it or hate it" title. Of course being a "pre Adventure" game it's criticisms are more grounded in reality with the game being devoid of cutscenes, playable pals or gimmicks aside from the Time Travel more focusing on the level design and some of it's inherent flaws.
The weirdest thing about CD is how you can go about getting the "good" ending. Instead of Chaos Emeralds, you have Time Stones which you can either get in the bizzare 3D esque special stages where you have to attack saucers OR towards the end of each act, there's a machine in the Present that if you destroy it, then go to the future version, the world will be green and pretty as opposed to the 'bad" future where it's all cold and metallic. Destroying said machine will show "Sonic made a Good future in Act 1/2" This is where the more "forced exploration" element is thrown in. Finding that machine is a pain, though it is optional like finding all Chaos Emeralds..
There's also little areas where you can see Metal Sonic stomping on animals and little machines you can destroy to have more little critters running around.
Yeah, it's a weird game though still better than that OTHER Sonic game involving time travel. (coughnextgencough)
...I would care, but thing is I have Gems Collection...

This, and I already had the PC version.
[QUOTE="Soniczero1993"]...you actually own a Sega CD? O_O Technically. It's from my aunt, to us kids, bet kept at our Grandmother's. No Sonic CD though, can't find it outside of online for $80. Got a 32x too, but no Knuckles Chaotix.I would care, but I have the original on it's rightful console.

It looks the same to me, the only change is widescreen support and maybe cleaned up framerate.macrules_640
Perhaps they're trying to make up for the sloppy job they did with Sonic Adventure. You remember, they ported the PC version which was a port of the GC version which was a port of the Dreamcast version so we got the bug filled version that made us pay extra for the DX addons, plus it didn't have widescreen support. And when compared to XBLA's port of Banjo Kazooie, it's unacceptable. So clearly CD which unlike the original triliogy isn't available for everything with a screen, they're trying to give it a little more tender loving care. Though it was ported well on the Gems collection. Sadly on that disc, that Tails Adventure and Triple Trouble are the only things that make that worth buying.
Let's hope they give the same care to Sonic Adventure 2 if it ever makes its way to download services.
