LOL No points? You think they would've gotten lucky and at least gotten a few points...._Brennan_Not when you run a full court press on a "special ed" school the entire game.

Holy I missed that part and just went back to check, and yeah it is a school that specializes in teaching kids with learning disabilities.
That is COLD. If there is karma out there someone is going to get hit hard sometime.

I feel bad now. -_- Now that I know about this, doing that is heartless. How could anyone do that to a school like that? And you know what the worst part is? The team that won probably actually felt like they accomplished something by winning 100-0. Sad. -_-

Special ed as in somewhat mentally challenged? Cause I thought the article stated iit helps people with dyslexia and short attention spans which really wouldn't hurt them on court. If the girls on the losing team did have some kind of mental challenges then it would be pretty cold.
[QUOTE="sith_acolyte15"]I guess the school is trying to "forfeit" the win.duxupSounds like someone at the school found out and is trying to do the right thing. Good for them.
Good for them? Not.
So they humiliated them, and now they want to give them a pity win? I think it's even worse, they should have just left it like it was.

I think it is a token acknowledging that their behavior in that game was inappropriate and they don't want to benefit from the outcome of something like that.considering the circumstances, its pretty sad if you ask me, still no points though...thats crazy
i still dont think its half as bad as kobe scoring 81 points all by himself against the raptors:lol:
The fact that it was played against a school with "special learning" makes me shake my head. Why was this game even played? CommanderShiro
To give those girls something to do where they can leave their sorrow behind and be just like everyone else.
I cannot imagine a coach using this game as a pure drill just to score triple digits.
Nobody still answered this: The kids on the losing team were suffering from dyslexia and short attention spans. Not anything worse? They weren't mentally handicapped in any other way? Cause in that case it wouldn't make a difference on the court.Nifty_Sharkwhat's ur question

Were the kids on the losing team handicapped or just bad?
I'm a bball coach, and that's what I would do, more or less.If I was the coach , I would have went with my bench players in the second half and wouldn't have put on a full court press anymore , but I would have told my team to keep playing hard and the right way. 3-pointers are part of the game.

I am really sick of this "golden rule" crap that pretty much states you should just roll over and die if your too far ahead in a game. I have been on the losing side of big blow out games in high school, but that is all the more motivation to not let it happen the next game, or the next season. Two years later it was my team handing out the blowouts and we went undefeated all the way until the second to last round of the state tourney. Sometimes losing big helps more then just allowing yourself to quit. From reading that story you know those girls still had pride and played on, and now they are famous and going to a Maverick's game thanks to Cuban. Now if those girls on the losing team were physically or mentally handicapped then that is a bullcrp move by the other team. I have a feeling those girls are going to remember the NBA game well before recalling getting beaten by a 100. The other thing I noticed was that the article didn't indicate if the winning team left in their starters the whole game or if their subs were just as good that night. You can't really get mad at a team if they clear their bench and their bench players play well. They should be allowed to try their best as well, and not waste their time playing no defense and dribbling out the clock for the last two quarters.Lostboy1224Yeah I totally agree, I too have played on both sides of it. I remember losing games(ice hockey) with scores of 11 or 12 to 0, going defeated for entire seasons, just gave us more motivation to improve the next game. To be honest, not sure how anyone else feels about it, but I'd rather have the **** get kicked out of us, then have the other team sympathize and play easy for the rest of the game, now that makes you feel so much more pathetic. That's the way I felt at least.
One:The girls werent special ed or handicapped they had learning disabilities like dyslexia which is a BIG difference
Two: People are mad because they were shooting 3's. Lol wat if im a bench player coming into a game and i know I have an opportunity to score and get points im gonna do it. The kids cant just not play basketball if the kids are really that bad maybe they shouldn't have a basketball team.

I agree that if the kids are this bad, they shouldn't have a team altogether. Still, that doesn't excuse the coach or the players for such a lack of sportsmanship. If you want to run easy layup drills or work on your jumper, do it in your driveway. Don't completely humiliate another group of girls in the process. They had nothing to prove by doing this.Wow that is mean.
In my opinion they should have the winning team play a basketball game agaisnt the Celtics, that will show them!!
A statement from the coach who was fired: "My values and beliefs would not allow me to run up the score on any opponent."
Riiight.

If the starters were in after halftime then it was running up the score and in every level of basketball that is unsportsmanlike. That team really does blow though.
