Just a question: Does having Dyslexia and/or a short-attention span make this ridiculous win seem that bad?

so who is the idiot that scheduled this game? that's what I want to know because it wasn't the coach that deserved to be fired although it was unsportsmanlike to run full court press when they were up by that much. It was the person who scheduled to play a team that hasn't won a game in 4 years fault, he is the moron in all of this and he is the one that should be fired imo

This is ridiculous we are supposed to be training kids at there highest level, if you are going to have a special eduacation athletics program playing against schools who are not geared to the learning disabled then expect outcomes like this.

if you arent going to play your hardest dont play, sportsmanship is about how you win and lose not what happens in between.

No, you can't blame teams for scheduling this school. For all we know, they're in the same conference. It's not like they can't both be part of the same Dallas-area Catholic League, or something like that. You can't not schedule a team just because they're that bad, everyone has to play games. If they have a team, someone is gonna play them. No, the problem is that the coach left the starters in (even tough the halftime score was 59-0), and ran a full court press with them and had them shooting 3s in the 4th quarter. Then refused to apologize about anything saying he'd "done nothing wrong", and his morals "don't allow him to run the score up". Or something along those lines. Clearly this guy doesn't have a clue about sportsmanship. If I were an AD, or some other administrator that can make decisions about things like this, I'd fire him too. Wouldn't even think twice about it.

^ and I totally agree with your post. there's a golden rule in sports and when you're up by that big you don't keep stomping on your opponent, run your plays but full court press the entire game? cmon now you don't need to do that, that's totally disrespectful. I've seen college rivals with more sportsmanship then that coach displayed. I've seen the NBA teams with more sportsmanship then that coach and that's just sad

In a way i feel like a hypocrite because my brother bragged about the Patriots running up the score and i said they had bad sportsmanship. Then some people on ESPN defended them and said "hey well play defense, don't cry about it" and i started to agree. Eventually they would run into a team they couldn't run it up on and that was the Giants :) The difference here is those kids being special ed., it makes you wonder if that coach has his head on straight..............

That hurts reading that. But on topic, the difference is that the other team hasn't won a game in 4 years, so why schedule them against a premier school. That doesn't make any kind of sense.

So I guess the school that won 100-0 was really mad after because they fired their coach.

I guess all those 3 pointers in the 4th didn't help him at all.

Yeah you take off the full court press, you run clock, pass a bunch of times, shoot, and move on. It is not rocket science.

I take it that it's you that doesn't understand the difference between "retarded" and "special ed". Those are not mutually exclusive terms.

The fact that a single 3-pointer was attempted by them in the second half is appalling. They should've had their backups in that whole time running layup drills, and short range jump shots. With a very simple zone defense.

From what I have read/researched, the loosing school is the only school of its kind in the area and in order for them to play different teams, they basically put out the offer to all the surrounding schools in hope that they will play, just to give the opportunity for the girls to play. If the one website i saw was correct, this was not the first time the two schools have played either. VERY poor actions on part of coach.

Well at that age I'm not sure how long those kids last out there. I'm not sure starters matter too much. I'd say anyone can play. Just make sure they know they have to pass X times, and the defense isn't allowed anywhere outside the 3 point range. I mean if one kid gets over excited and shoots a 3 it is a learning opportunity for the kid and let them know what the right thing is to do. That's the real sad part here, these are all kids involved and that coach should be teaching them that stuff, not laying into a team like that and then pouting like some kid and refusing to apologize.

But the fact that it is a "Special Ed" school and not a "Mentally handicapped" school does make it so. Once again, those two despcriptions do not mean the same thing. So, no matter how you label what kind of school it is, you're still trying to excuse something that is unexcusable.

Yeah word from the loosing school was that they haven't won in a long time but the kids still enjoy themselves. If that is the case let them play I say.

Not when you run a full court press on a "special ed" school the entire game.

Lol, I wouldn't go as far as calling them special ed though.

You people make me laugh, they should have never signed up if they were crappy at basketball.. StealthySniper1
Its not cause there bad its cause the other team run the score up to get to three digtint numbers and show off. when you first start to make teams it takes time for them to get to that area. Its not like you can make a quick team and get the playoffs at all. and they sign up cause they love the game to play not to win. learn the diffrence. they won not by score but by doing the best they cable of doing.

So what? The girls shouldn't have been out there if they couldn't handle losing. Did you hear about that football team getting their butts beat 133 - 0??? I mean come on, I can't feel sorry for these guys. Now, if it was starters the entire game, then you have a point. But when it's the entire team playing, they were just playing basketballa nd I can't show any sadness for it. Not to sound mean, but either you go out prepared/good enough to play or you stink/unprepared and you play anyways. It's hard to believe a team can lose 100-0, they must have been really bad.

It dosent matter how good or bad you are. there a sportsmanship you show in all sports and they didnt show it. really dude get a reality check :|

I can't imagine something like that even happening. You would think that even a high school boys basketball team vs. the Boston Celtics would never end in a 100-0 game because someone would have to make at least 1 basket or get to the free throw line and shoot.
