Why should we ignore the HGH when it comes to football? I mean weren't many of you Pats fans bashing Andy Pettitte not to long ago?

I never bashed anyone ofr HGH use. Althoguh its wrong and illegal it isn't a preformance enhancer but a tool for rebounding from injurys.

I wasn't. I actually applaud him for coming forward and admitting it, letting him move on from it.

[QUOTE="murlow12"][QUOTE="KingOfKonging"][QUOTE="murlow12"][QUOTE="KingOfKonging"] Born and raised in NE, I've been a Pats fan my entire life....

manningbowl135

We have been hearing this way too often from Pats "fans" lately. Do you seriously feel the need to explain yourself? When the Lakers won 3 championships in a row I didn't feel the need to apologize to anyone for being a Laker fan. Why do you guys?

Yes, because so many fans dedicate so much time and effort to paint Pats fans as "bandwagon" and / or non-localfans, whereas in truth bandwagon fans and those outside of NEmake up the minority of our fanbase.

In fact, I've seen you do it.

Anyone who isn't from NE, or at least has some tie to the area, is a bandwagon fan. If that's what you are referring to then, yes, my stance has never changed. And most Pats fans fall into this category.

Whoa whoa. So if I support the Colts and I'm from NY, that means I'm a bandwagon fan? Even if I have supported the Colts ever since I started watching football?

Yes, because you never had a legitimate reason to root for them in the first place. There are exceptions, though. Like if your dad is a lifelong fan or your uncle plays for the team, etc. The point is, you need some kind of connection to the team/city/state.

No you don't. Thats RIDDICULOUS. What if you are raise in a family who doesn't like sports period and one day you started watching Football and the team on was the Colts. Never having seem any teams play you start watching this team everytime they are on and watchign via the net. That makes you a bandwagon fan? Even though you had no idea that they were good or bad? Thats such an ignorant statement. So all the people who live in Western MA and South Western Conneticutt are bandwagon fans because they support the Giants/Bills? (the majority of western/southern CT are Gmen/Bills fans)

That's one of the dumbest things I ever heard. If I genuinely like the team, I'll root for them. Simple. I never had a "legitimate" reason? Who are you to determine what's a legitimate reason? My reason is I like them. That's legit enough for me.

I'm pretty sure that being from an area isn't a pre-req for liking a certain team. I live in San Diego....doesn't mean I like the Chargers.

Well you should. Unless, of course, you're not from SD or whatever. How else can you have a true connection to your team if you've never even been to a game or lived in the city? There's a reason teams have city names associated with them. If you weren't supposed to root for your home team they wouldn't be associated with a city. It would just be Chargers, not San Diego Chargers.

Liking a team is liking anything else. You may like a team for whatever reason or not like a team for whatever reason. Who cares about connection? If you like the team, you root for them. If you don't like them, you don't root for them. It doesn't get any simpler than that.

I don't like the Jets. In fact, I loathe the Jets. Doesn't matter to me at all that I have a home connection. I don't like the team and so I don't root for them. He's probably the same.

I moved here 6 years ago, but I don't like them. I never lived in Boston, but I like the Pats. Not sure when I started liking them, somewhere around like 92 or 93, but I've been to tons of games and stuff. You don't have to live in a city to have a connection to it.

You don't like them b/c they're not good, and that's dispicable. Every franchise has its ups and downs, and you should stick with them through those.

So what's your connection to Boston? That you've been to some games? So that means I have a connection with Atlanta b/c when I lived in North Carolina I drove to Atlanta to watch all the Dodgers' games? Ridiculous. Also Raleigh for me, b/c I watched my Kings play the Hurricanes when I lived there. So I guess now I should root for UNC basketball b/c they're #1.

Of course you can, but you shouldn't. Doesn't anyone else seeing something wrong with just picking the best player/team and rooting for them? Where's the loyalty? I know I'm not the only one that feels this way. If you live in, say Chicago, and walk down the street with a Lakers' hat and Patriots' jersey you're going to get crap. I can't believe you guys don't understand the concept.

Did I tell you I don't root for them b/c they're not good? Don't assume something that you know nothing about. I don't like them b/c I don't like them. I didn't like them when they were 10-6 last year or before and I don't like them now.

You're not reading right. Bandwagoning is when you just pick the best teams. We're talking about teams we like b/c we like them. Simple. I will like the Colts if they ever become a losing team. I likeed the Mariners when they were 116 game winners, before that and even though since then they have not gone to the playoffs once, I still root for them.

You don't understand what we're saying. We're rooting for teams we genuinely like, not teams that are just the best and we like them b/c of it. I liked the Colts when they had a top 5 pick and I like them now. I liked the Mariners when they were superpowers and I like them now. Just b/c they're not in my state doesn't make it bandwagoning.

I've named many exceptions. It's just pretty cheap to pick the best player (Kobe) or the best team (Colts last year) and say they're your favorite. I don't make the "rules", I just follow tradition.

Murlow:

So what you're saying is that as a Canadian, I can't have a favorite NFL team because I don't live where any are located?
I have always been a Denver Broncos fan, yet I have never been to Colorado.

I can somewhat understand your argument. You should cheer for the hometown team. Yet I also believe that you should always cheer for the first team you associated yourself with. In most cases, it will be the home team. But often times as a kid, people pick teams for different reasons. And for millions of people around the world, for various sports, there is no home team.

I understand exactly what you're saying, I just disagree with it. You picked a team for no reason and you think that as long as you stick with them it's okay. I disagree. I think picking a team for no reason is per se wrong, so liking them for your whole life doesn't change that.

Thanks for bringing this up, Zero. Here is an obvious exception. For example, if I was a soccer fan and I liked some European league I would just have to pick a team. That's acceptable b/c I don't have any other choice.

Not no reason. Again I LIKE THEM. I didn't go through the list of NFL teams and pick the Colts. I picked the Colts b/c when I started watching football, Colts were the team I liked the most.

I still don't understand what you define as reason. My reason is as simple as it can possibly get. I like the team whether they're losers or winners, so I root for them. I'm not allowed to like the team if they're not in my area code?

I'm from Texas and my team is the Eagles because when i first started watching the NFL and playing Madden with my friends (around 2001?) they were the ones i enjoyed playing with and watching the most. This was regardless of their accolades I had absolutely no previous knowledge of anyway.

I'm fifteen by the way, so I've been a straight up Eagles fan since i was 7 or 8, despite never being in Philadelphia.

EDIT: Also, I am a casual Colts fan because one of my good friends supports (and has supported) the Colts forever.

And what's more, I am a casual Packers fan because my friend's dad happens to be the head coach.

Are these not legitimate reasons to like a team despite geographical location?

[QUOTE="manningbowl135"]You don't understand what we're saying. We're rooting for teams we genuinely like, not teams that are just the best and we like them b/c of it. I liked the Colts when they had a top 5 pick and I like them now. I liked the Mariners when they were superpowers and I like them now. Just b/c they're not in my state doesn't make it bandwagoning.Just_Osmo

I understand exactly what you're saying, I just disagree with it. You picked a team for no reason and you think that as long as you stick with them it's okay. I disagree. I think picking a team for no reason is per se wrong, so liking them for your whole life doesn't change that.

*some states have multiple area codes.

Lol. I just said area code b/c it has a nice punch.

manning i copies you. 3>1 :[

Nice job. Too bad they're all ugly. Yep I said it. What're you gonna do huh? You're all the way over on the other side of the internet. I'm so protected.

4: We Are Allowed to Score Whenever We Want – You Are Not

The same New England Patriots who go for it on 4th down when they are up by 38 points in the 4th quarter and say "it is the other teams job to stop us" didn't always sing that tune. In 2002 when the Patriots beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Steelers did their best to score in the final seconds of a 30-7 game that they were losing. manningbowl135

Thats right it is. Ok if they dont get it. Then you get the ball back. If they kick a field goal. Thats just running up te score. Atleast the other team has a chance to stop them from scoring and getting the ball back without the pats getting any points. So you are very wrong with this one. Even the ESPN guys said something along the lines of what I said.

I'll send Tom Brady after you. He can do anything!

PS: They are pretty. The Colt's horse shoe is the ugly one.

Blue = beautiful. Pretty obvious. Both start with b.

All those fake glitters in the white diamonds and the ugly font on the championships. Like a Vegas pimp's bling. Hopefully Kraft will let someone else design this year's one. Brady won't be ashamed to put it on anymore. I saw him when he was in NY. He was crying to Gisele about why he couldn't get an owner with taste like Peyton has.

First time I felt sorry for the guy. Give him a ring he can be proud of Kraft!

Just_Osmo

Easily the best Pats one.

Simple, elegant and powerful and blue background. Perfect.
