I'll wait to see more but even as someone who has defended Brady and done my best to poke holes in the initial report even I won't deny that if the report that Brady destroyed his phone in the days or weeks before his scheduled meeting his plausibility deniability takes a huge hit. I'd like to see it from a different angle but I just can't deny that destroying your phone while under investigation, even if it is the norm, looks pretty bad. I am curious to know why this information is just coming out now and do maintain that his story took on a life of its own not due to the facts in a vacuum but rather the surrounding circumstances, but honestly, if the NFL can prove the phone destroyed with Brady's knowledge, the suspension probably isn't going to get overturned.

Lol at Brady and the Pats. Glad the NFL showed some balls here. With how obnoxious Brady and co have been with this whole situation and with the way they have essentially tried to strong arm the NFL after being caught cheating, it is so nice to see them get pushed back.

Hope Brady gets his ass reemed in court. With the way he has acted throughout this whole episode I really can't stand the piece of shit anymore. Reminds me of a spoiled damn child who thinks he can do whatever the **** he wants with no consequence.

From what I read/heard. Brady destroys his phones every 4-5 months. Goodell said they were satisfied with the info during the initial stages as far as his phone records go, so he went through and did what he usually does.

@Chutebox: Yeah true, I hadn't heard that when I posted but if he can show some consistency with his phone replacement habits that could be important in court. Interesting report that came out today revealed that the NFL's VP of game operations, Mike Kensil was the source for the initial '11 of 12 balls 2 PSI under' report. A report that I think frankly is a big part of the reason why the story blew up in the first place, as an accurate report that the balls lost on average 0.54 more PSI than expected (ignoring all other variables) would never drawn that same sort of interest. Maybe it was an honest ****-up but after the NFL dragged its feet correcting the K-ball report I'm suspicious.

Moving on though, Russell Wilson finally signed an extension today for 4 years/$87.6 with $60M guaranteed. I actually think the Seahawks came out better than I expected as I really thought they'd be approaching $23M AAV, which would have arguably been more likely had they waited until next offseason and ended up having to compete with whatever mammoth deal Andrew Luck will be getting.

The last thing I've heard was that he is having a pretty good camp. Also the preseason started last Sunday.

This pre-season tease just has me even more excited for the regular season! I feel a lot of people are under-estimating the Lions and seeing the performances I saw in this pre-season game just strengthens my opinion that this is a playoff team and they WILL take at least one playoff game.

Good for you for beating the Steelers.

I don't know why people are sleeping on the Lions. They seem like a well built team.

@GameboyTroy: I think people get so caught up in the teams bad history. Fact is that last years success really wasn't a fluke. Had they had Caldwell the year before they would have EASILY taken the division with Rodgers being hurt. Schwartz just never got that team through the entire year and they collapsed under his lack of coaching skills.

Honesstly, worse QB's than Stafford have won Super Bowls. If it wasn't for the presence of the Packers and Seahawks I could easily see the team going to the Super Bowl. The defense looks fantastic once again this year with a surprising amount of depth and the offense looks WAY better with the upgrades to the o-line and the wonderful addition of Abdullah who looks like exactly the running back the team needed to get the running game going again. Lets not forget the additions in reciever. Moore looks solid and Salas put on such an EPIC performance in that pre-season game that he has REALLY garnered my attention.

I am really excited for this year. It seems to me everything is coming together and as long as Stafford doesn't completely shit the bed (which I thought he showed great signs of improvement last year) the team should make the playoffs. Really there are only 3 games I worry about on their schedule this year, those being the two against the Packers (and even then, they took the home game against them last year) and the game at Seattle. The rest are fairly win-able granted I don't expect them to necessarily them to go 13-3.

So how is the schedule looking for your teams? I am a Seahawks fan so I am a little disappointed with the result last week but given a lack of starting players it was not the end of the world (plus it was a friendly game).

Any other 12's in here? What teams are you rooting for this season?

Redskin fan here and not really worried about the schedule but more how they actually perform. Defense still looked highly suspect last preseason game.

Side note, please don't suspend any of us for the way we talk in here lol. We get very offensive, but it's all in fun!

@Chutebox: As long as it is within the rules, a little bit of sports banter is fine. Rivalries are what can make sports sometimes, but as long as nothing too aggressive or direct at people in particular (i.e. calling names for the sake of it would not be acceptable).

How did Washington DC do in their conference last season? Did they get any good players in the draft?

Yeah the team is a mess. Doesn't help that this is what looks to be another great Lions defense.

But the oline shouldn't be a big issue anymore. New Oline coach, drafted a first rounder and Moses from last year. But they look worse than last year. I'm just baffled.

I liked what I saw out of Jimmy G last night, though remain hopeful we don't end up needing him during the regular season. Feel awful for the Packers and Jordy Nelson though, I honestly didn't think he had more than a turned ankle when I saw him walk off the field. At a certain point I really think there's going to be a coach who decides to rest all his starters throughout the entirety of the preseason.

The Packs will survive without Jordy. They should be worried about Rodgers who has been made of glass these last couple seasons.

If Caldwell had came to Detroit a year earlier the Lions would have totally taken the NFC North in 2013 with Rodgers missing games for being injured.

They got lucky he managed to play through being injured last year, but I am surprised no one seems to talk about Rodgers inability to stay healthy. If he goes down now they surely won't take the NFC North. The Lions already almost took it last year when Rodgers was there giving his MVP performance. Really, if they hadn't had a shit kicker for the first part of the season they WOULD HAVE taken the North...

Kirk Cousins named starter after numerous conflicting reports. Shit like this really just further establishes what a dysfunctional franchise the Redskins are and at this point I'd be shocked if Gruden lasts until the team's week 9 game after their bye.

Also Judge Berman announced that the deflate-gate saga will be at least temporarily resolved by the end of the week and at this point I honestly am trying to give up caring. The truth of the matter is the league has more or less pivoted to not giving a shit about whether or not they have enough evidence for a 'fair' suspension anymore and instead seem to be focused on the argument that Goodell has the right to suspend anybody for any length of time that he sees fit. If they win a dangerous precedent will be set and it's not going to change my mind that a truly natural arbitrator deciding the facts of the case would have more than likely overturned or heavily reduced the suspension imposed by Goodell to something more.

Brady deserves everything the league throws at him. He has done nothing but impede investigation, be uncooperative, and strong-arm his way out of punishment. The man has shown himself to be an absolute slimeball and I am really sick of him playing victim.

@LostProphetFLCL: it's already been pointed out that he always destroys his phone. Destroying the phone does not delete any of the information, so it doesn't even matter.

Can you blame him for not wanting his personal info? Look at all the shit that got leaked. ..

How anyone can look at how poorly the nfl had handled this while ignoring the scientific facts as well as what the refs said about the gauges is beyond me

Should have just owned up to being cheaters. Would have made the situation WAY better than the heaping pile of bullshit he turned this in to.

@LostProphetFLCL: you ignored all the facts I said. Alrighty

Let me ask you something, do you really buy this shit of DESTROYING a cell-phone every few months? Is it not convenient he just happened to destroy his damn phone with an investigation going on?

Also, wasn't Brady adamantly shooting down the Wells report? But then he is going to turn around and say it supports him after bitching about it being inaccurate?

I really think Pat's fans might are delusional.

I'm not a Pats fan. I thought my sig would give it away.

He has shown proof that he has done that with his cell phones. And like I said and you ignored, all the texts and emails are not deleted because it was physically destroyed.

They were shooting it down because of the reasons I showed above. Glad we agree on that.

Either the Wells report and it's conclusion are accurate or the whole thing's a farce. You don't go shooting down a report that says you are guilty and then turn around and says it supports you.

If it supported the Patriots innocence then that would have been the stated conclusion. It didn't though. That wasn't the conclusion. Don't try and act otherwise.

It's a farce because Wells ignores the scientific facts he himself presented in his document and he assumed which gauge the ref was using.
