[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"][QUOTE="JML897"]Your "friend's" logic sucks. If hockey fails because players celebrate, that must mean the NFL really fails. Surely nobody watches the NFL since guys always celebrate after a touchdown.
Anyway, I think you're making up the situation with your friend to help prove your point...are you trying to tell me that your friend never watches hockey, but at the same time she had no idea why people didn't watch hockey?

She was over while my 16 hours a day of ESPNEWS was on
Know what Overchicken's celebrations are like? It's like the defensive end that celebrates his sack in the second quarter of a game already down 2 touchdowns.
The other thing that shows how bad/misguided the celebrations are is that he doesn't do it at the end of the game. He doesn't get excited about the game itself, just what he's doing in the game.
You have absolutely no understanding of the game whatsoever. Sorry, but you just don't. If you don't like the damn game, just say it. Don't make something like "goal celebrations" the reason the sport isn't doing well. Celebrations aren't whats turning off people from the game. If you believe that your delusional. Whats turning off people from the game is VERY simple (in no order). 1) Shoving Sidney Crosby down our throats 2) Showing God Awful games on National Broadcasts, such as the New York Islanders vs. Colorado Avalanche last night 3) Being shown on Versus 4) AWFUL deal with NBC 5) Hockey is very expensive to start playing. Baseball, Football and Basketball are cheaper to get into, so kids grow with the sport more. 6) Poor media coverage 7) Moving teams or expanding the league into regions with warm weather climates and the people don't enjoy or understand the game of hockey. Combine this with number 5.I love hockey
The NHL on the other hand is awful
Celebrations do turn people off, the idea that someone is celebrating that much over something that means nothing in most games. It's not like he's winning the game with 17 seconds left in the third period. He's celebrating a goal halfway through the second period and his team is still down 2 scores lol
As far as what's turning people off you're wrong in some and making the worst excuses in a long time on others
1. Crosby is the best player in the NHL and he's also shown that he can carry a team far into the playoffs. Of COURSE he's going to be the guy advertised. You have a better player in mind? A young phenom that has shown he can play in the playoffs is a bad choice?
2. The schedules are made in advance. Do you think they see all the games on at a certain time and pick the most interesting one right before?
3. It's shown on that channel because no one else wants it
4. Awful deal? Since when are beggars choosers? NBC has been the NHL's savior when it comes to TV
5. Hockey isn't expensive compared to all those sports. It's more expensive then basketball. Past that baseball is just as expensive and football is the most expensive sport to get into.
6. Poor media coverage is because no one wants to see it.
7. Warm weather? Ok, so if Detroit has a day in the 80's they all forget their hockey? The idea that somehow spending more months in cold weather makes you like hockey more is just out there
