Just now Barry Bonds has tied Hank Aaron with 755 career homeruns. Just wanted to let you all know.

Yeah, I'm very happy Bonds tied the record. And it gets really annoying when people say Bonds took steroids when it hasn't even been proven. People always hate on him because they know he owns.

Is him saying hetook them not proof enough?

Bonds said he used a clear substance and a cream given to him by a trainer who was indicted in a steroid-distribution ring, but said he didn't know they were steroids. So, you can't really say if he knew they were steroids or not. He could be telling the truth or could be lying.

Whether you believe he did them knowingly or not, the bottom line is that he took them and Aaron didn't. But there was the guy on ESPN the other day that said based on taste, there's no way you can get the "clear" mixed up with flaxseed oil.

Could it be that it actually was flaxseed oil? Regardless of whether Bonds is guilty or not, he is being tried in the court of public opinion. People are guilty of crimes, only when they have been proven guilty, beyond a reasonable doubt. And you cannot prove someone guilty of a crime without evidence.

Yeah, because it would totally make sense for him to say he took the clear if it was actually flaxseed oil.:|
It's already a FACT that he took roids, but there are two reasons they haven't convicted him: 1. There was no rule against roids when he did them. 2. There is no proof he took them knowingly (besides common sense).

great. this is about to get as bad as the system wars forum. i'll just take a breath, grab some popcorn, and read the pro and anti bonds posts and certainly not post any myself.
Hoozah! A cheater has tied the record! Way to go, Barroid.GamerForcaHAHAH!!
Anyway, i'll just be glad when all of this is over (and when A-Rod of Ken Griffy break HIS record ;))

Bonds never said that he used steroids, and he's been pretty careful about his words. He said that he used a clear substance, and that he was told it was Flaxseed Oil. Do I think that he took steroids? Probably, but I also believe that people are innocent until proven guilty, and I will not join in the trying of somebody in a court of public opinion.
The law is supposed to work separate from public opinion, and in my opinion the whole Bonds issue has been a major mistake in that regard. You cannot assume anything in a court of law. The truth can be completely bizarre. Who knows what actually happened? You seem to think you do, but you don't know for sure. Nobody does, except for possibly Barry, and maybe he actually is as big an idiot as he claims make him seem.
The reason why nobody has convicted Bonds of anything is because nothing has been proven as fact. He is still playing ball, and as far as I'm concerned, until somebody tests him and finds illegal steroids in his system, nobody can make any claim to the facts. He is still playing; he is still hitting homeruns. Have they tested him for steroids? I have a feeling that they have not, because at this point, they cannot afford to have his test come up negative.
Congrats Barry! Too bad I was at the ******** mall and missed it! Renegade_Fury
That's funny, well not really because you deserved to see it, but I was working at the bar tonight and had the game on and the only ones in the bar were a group of 8 waiting to be seated at the restaurant next door and a regular who was sitting at the bar. The group of 8 was watching and waiting for BB to hit when they got their table and went to the restaurant (where there's no tv's) BB was on deck and the regular decided to go to the bathroom and it was just me in the bar watching. BB came up to bat and right before he hit the homer I thought" Of course, I'll be all by myself to witness this" and then he swang and the rest is history.

Wow that's actually a pretty funny story. Hmm, it sounds like it must have been your destiny. :P
Hopefully I'll get to see him break the record, but it sucks, because I had a feeling all day that he would tie it tonight. All week I had been watching, including yesterday's loss by the big eyebrow loser Vinnie Chulk, and this is what happens. I even tried rushing home too, but it was already the 4th inning by the time I finally did get back. Oh yeah, on top of it I was stuck watching the rest in non HD since FSN decided not to up it for this game...

I was actually kind of upset because for the past week I had been watching his every at bat with friends or family waiting to see him tie the record and be able to remember who I was with when witnessing BB tie the record (regardless of if i like him or not). And then I got to go fill in for someone at the bar I used to work at and there's my luck, absolutely no one to witness it with me.... at a bar of all places.

Well on the bright side, at least you got to see it live even if it was at an awkward place. For me though, I'll always remember it as the day I was stuck at a stupid sale, courtesy of my slow ass family. "Sigh", I even told them I would kill at least one of them if I missed Barry hit it. Man, this is what I get for being a nice guy and going with them.

Yes, he did say that he took roids. My points still stand.
"Bonds told a U.S. grand jury that he used undetectable steroids known as "the cream" and "the clear," which he received from personal trainer Greg Anderson during the 2003 season. According to Bonds, the trainer told him the substances were the nutritional supplement flaxseed oil and a pain-relieving balm for the player's arthritis."
