[QUOTE="xscrapzx"][QUOTE="X360PS3AMD05"] I just laugh when i see them out and about around socal, even in 2004 you didn't see them, if these teams couldn't buy their all star teams they wouldn't have that many fans  Whatever, people follow what's cool in all sorts of things not just sports.-Halftime-Please its like this in every state. If your team sucks who is going to want to watch 'em. I'm sure Pittsburgh has fans rolling right in to watch the Pirates. I suggest you come out to Mass during baseball season or any sport season for that matter and you will see that you have passionate fans out here. I mean hell the Sox haven't even play half a season of baseball and you have every fan calling sports radio claiming the world is going to end. To say that Boston wouldn't like their teams if they weren't as good as they have been is foolish. Don't get me wrong there are pink hats out here, not doubt, but Boston is a great sports city fans included. The Boston Garden was deserted in 2007. You guys are probably the biggest fairweather city in sports. That title easily goes to Miami, Boston no.

OK I'm sorry but just because when a team sucks and fans don't want to spend a lot of money on tickets to see a crappy team doesnt make us fanweather fans. The bottom line is the Celtics before '07 were mediocre at best, the Bruins were the same. They still attracted fans at the beginning of the season but as the season drew on and fans found that both teams were non existent they stopped going to games. People still spoke about them, still talked about how mad they were that they weren't playing well. I guess you aren't from Boston or listen to sports radio because if you did then you would know that people care about the teams but didn't want to spend the money to see a poor product on the ice, court, or the field. That goes for every team in the States.
Fenway was half empty before they went on their runs, please.X360PS3AMD05Just like every other sports team in this country. If you are bad no one wants to pay to see you. That doesn't make you a fairweather fan. I hate that term. Who is going to want to pay mad money to see a poor product. I mean its common sense.
Then what is the definition of a fairweather fan :|X360PS3AMD05It is a term used to hate on fans of a particular area. Fairweather fans to me are fans who live in Texas and claim they are die hard Red Sox fans the year they win, but then say otherwise if they struggle.
Isn't that a bandwagon? Fairweather is people who only show up when the team is good, which is supported by this thread.......X360PS3AMD05True it is a bandwagon. Alright, but you cannot say that a team that is crap will have full attendance and a full house. It just doesn't happen. If the Dodgers were in last place without the likes of Manny, Kemp and lets throw in Eithier (because he's a stud) I guarantee the seats would not be as full as they are. Fairweather fans exist everywhere, but the insult is ridiculous because who would pay to watch a crummy product when they can watch it at home? Do not forget games are televised.
Then what is the definition of a fairweather fan :|X360PS3AMD05No to me a fairweather fan are fans that don't care at all about their sports teams unless they are champions. That is not the case here in Boston. The Bruins have not won in over 30 years, but people still talk about them, still complain about them and still care about them. Just because people don't go to the games does not make them a fairweather fan. There are many reasons to why people don't buy tickets you know, not just because they don't want to go. All the teams here might have sucked in the middle to late 90's and before that but there were still very passionate fans here. Of course there are what they call the pink hats that are casual fans that only come around when they win, but thats like that for every team in every sport.

you usually find them in just about any basketball game, they sit in the first 3 rows
