The Celtics had what some consider consider the best front court ever in Bird, Parish & Mchale. Bird is unquestionably one of the best players ever, Mchale is one of the best power forwards ever(Barkely said Mchale is the best he's played against) and Parish is a competent center that in his prime could give you about 20pts/10rbs, plus was a decent defender.Throw in Bill Walton who was slowed by injuries but was good enough to get 6th man of the year award.
The Celtics had great shooters too, Bird, Danny Ainge, Jerry Sighting. We know about Bird. but Ainge shot 50% during the 85-86 title season and Sichting shot 57%! from the field. They also were very good 3pt shooters. So there's your spot up shooters when Bird or Mchale had to be doubled. Throw in a good 2-way player in Dennis Johnson who could score 15+, play great defense and hit clutch shots.Birds passing, Boston's front court/back court play, bench and over-all team play.......etc.,......
Just saying, the Celtics(and Show-time Lakers)were a great team and it's certainly not a given that the Bulls had the best line-up ever.
