What do you think was the best NBA lineup? I'll start with the.....

02'-05' Sacramento Kings:

PG: Mike bibby

SG: Doug Christie

SF: Peja Stojakovic

PF: Chris Webber

C: Vlade Divac/Brad Miller

Best 6th man: Bobby Jackson.

In my opinion, this lineup is more exciting than the Current Phoenix Suns. If it wasn't for Horry, the Kings would probably have won the Finals.

yea, that was the most exciting and my favourite team to watch back then... but sorry it was webber's inability to close out games that cost them the western finals

With all due respect to Jordan, he was never apart of any greatest lineup of all time. His six championships are the result of his own personal greatness as well as Phil Jackson and Pippen to a lesser extent, but one HOF megastar does not equal a great starting five.

While an argument could be made for the 1985-86 Boston Celtics that went 40-1 at home en route to the Championship, I'd put my money on the otherworldly 1962-63 squad. Eight (!!) future hall of famers on one team, many in their prime, with Red Auerbach calling the shots.

That team averaged over 118 points per game, 7 different players had double digit scoring. From 1960-70 the Celtics were the model for excellence, selflessness and creativity on the basketball court, year in and year out against incredibly tough competition. No one's approaching their level anytime soon. PG Bob Cousy SG Sam Jones SF Tom Heinsohn PF John Havlicek C Bill Russell Bench: KC Jones, Satch Sanders, Frank Ramsey, Clyde Lovellette. Season Record: 58-22 League MVP: Bill Russell All Stars: Tom Heinsohn, Bob Cousy, Bill Russell (game MVP) NBA Champions

96 Bulls Jordan Harper Pippen Rodman Longley 6th Man: Kukoc Coach: Phil Jackson Face it this team went 72-10, and won it all. Like it or not this was and still is the best record in season history, these guys meshed so well, no disrespect to the other teams you mentioned. This thread sucks, where's all the Lakers fans.. or anyone that follows basketball before Michael Jordan for that matter. Yeah the '96 Bulls killed it, but do you really believe those players equaled the best lineup ever assembled in the NBA? What about Wilt Chamberlain's 76'ers team that went 68-13? The '72 Lakers team with Jerry West, Gail Goodrich and Wilt, also with only 13 regular season losses? The Lakers and Celtics dynasties of the 1980's? The Celtics players that dominated the NBA for over an entire decade?

But Jordan was god, so his best season has to be the greatest lineup of all time, no questions asked.

The Bulls had Jordan and Pippen but the other guys were mediocre at best! All Rodman could do was grab boards and look like an idiot! The other two aren't even worth mentioning!

The Celtics team that was mentioned was better and I know there were a couple of Laker teams that were great too (Worthy, Erving, Kareem, etc) and would stomp the Bulls. I also have to say that this years Mav team is pretty good themselves. They have some solid players and know how to shoot the ball as well as play some good D. The only issue this thread has is that all the teams were in different eras so you can't really compare them because the competition was different. Personally, I think the Jazz teams that went to the Championship game twice agains the Bulls were very good teams that had an overall better lineup than the 96 Bulls... Jordan was just too good by himself though. You take him out of the equation and the other guys are decent at best and that team doesn't do much at all! One guys doesn't make the lineup great!

I would personally change Billups with Nash and Wallace with Shaq/Mehmet Okur. Either way it's a good team though.

How can you guys forget the 1986 Boston Celtics or 1987 L.A. Lakers? These teams would have made short work of the gimmicky 1996 Bulls (heck, even the 1992 Bulls would have beat the 1996 Bulls). These teams applied strategy.

Rodman was the main reason the Bulls won their next 3-peat. They were a "donut team" until he came there.

Those teams were epic, and watching them play each other is some of the most amazing basketball you can ever watch. Those Lakers teams, my god - relentless, fundamental, unselfish and artistic. The 80's Celtics would out hustle and out think opponents to the point it became legendary. They were as versatile as they were talented and started the best frontcourt of all time. Both squads deserve to be near the top of any best lineup ever list.

Show time Lakers or Bird Celtics at their peak are better "line-ups" or better collection of talent than any MJ Bulls team, imo. I beleive either of those teams could have hung with and/or beat the Bulls, even the team that lost 10 games. I'm not even trying to go back the the Russell/Chamberlain ere, yet.

That's an ignorant comment. Rodman was one of the best defender and rebounder in the league. 7 time first all-defensive team. Kukoc was best 6th man that year and an incredibly versatile player. Harper was a great player, won another 2 championships with the Lakers, Steve Kerr is one of the best spot-up shooters ever. It's not my favorite line up but what you said was just wrong...

How would those Bulls deal with the Celtics front line of Bird, Parish and Mchale, along with a decent defender to possibly slow MJ down (Dennis Johnson, who could score also) + some solid role players.

The show-time Lakers also had a pretty good defender in Michael Cooper to possible slow MJ down or make him work harder and be less effective, along with a whole slew of very good to great players. IMO it's not a given that the Bulls had the best squad ever.

Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippen were two of the best outside defenders of all-time, and Dennis Rodman was the best defender in the league for years. You also have to remember that Ron Harper was a borderline all-star as well. Even though MJ did most of the big-time scoring, the bulls had 5 great shooters: MJ, Scotty, Kerr, Harper, and Kukoc.

The Celtics had what some consider consider the best front court ever in Bird, Parish & Mchale. Bird is unquestionably one of the best players ever, Mchale is one of the best power forwards ever(Barkely said Mchale is the best he's played against) and Parish is a competent center that in his prime could give you about 20pts/10rbs, plus was a decent defender.Throw in Bill Walton who was slowed by injuries but was good enough to get 6th man of the year award.

The Celtics had great shooters too, Bird, Danny Ainge, Jerry Sighting. We know about Bird. but Ainge shot 50% during the 85-86 title season and Sichting shot 57%! from the field. They also were very good 3pt shooters. So there's your spot up shooters when Bird or Mchale had to be doubled. Throw in a good 2-way player in Dennis Johnson who could score 15+, play great defense and hit clutch shots.Birds passing, Boston's front court/back court play, bench and over-all team play.......etc.,......

Just saying, the Celtics(and Show-time Lakers)were a great team and it's certainly not a given that the Bulls had the best line-up ever.

In my opinion, and I know alot of people arent going to agree with me. I think the 03-04 Pistons were a really good lineup. They basically DESTROYED the Lakers in the finals. They all worked together as a whole team and thats what I liked about that line up, there wasnt one superstar that would just be the only dominant scorer. With Billups, Rip Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace, Ben Wallace, Tayshaun Prince all playing together.

Most Exciting???

Probably the Lakers in the 80s.

Seriously, if you watch any Magic Johnson highlights, you'd be in awe. Give me a slick pass to an ally-opp dunk anyday over fade-away Jordan jumpshots.

Best line-up of all-time would have to be the 60s Celtics:

8-Straight Championships

11 Championships in 13 years.

Enough said.
