Let's talk about the oldest and greatest (after the World Cup, of course) international Football (Soccer for the Australians and the Unitedstaters) tournament... the Copa America (I wrote in spanish because the Americas Cup its a regatta).
Today (14/02/07) its the draw for the tournament (with the exception of US and Mexico, they have their spot on the cup already picked)
I know that many Unitedstaters don't care about this subject (or any other subject about footbal/soccer)....

Not quite the oldest tournament since the oldest tournament in football is the F.A. Cup which started in 1871 while the Copa Americas started in 1916 so i made a little change to your post to correct it.fordiesThanks for the correction. The Copa America is the oldest for National Selections (I guess that the FA Cup its for English proffesionals and amateurs football clubs).
Anything involving a south american soccer tourney, will undoubtedly end up with Argentina or Brazil winning. :P Solid_FishYou're wrong

Colombia is in a tough group, but i think they could go to the next round. Again brazil and argentina are the most powerful teams of the continent. I hope that this time all teams will take their best players because the last 2 copas americas didn't have many stars (specially brazil, where the keck was ronaldinho and ronaldo back in 03!!!)
Group B is the "group of death". It will be interesting to see who wins the two spots. I wouldn't be surprised if their was an upset in that group.Up to 3 teams can get out of the group (the 2 best 3rd place finishers advance as well). Therefore Brazil, Mexico, & Ecuador will advance. Don't be surprised if Mexico ends up on top of the group, we've had Brazil's number for a while now.

Uruguay advances out of Group A easily, even though they really aren't all that good. Venezuela is my other pick to advance because they're at home (and because Peru and Bolivia are horrible). I think Brazil and Mexico get out of Group B, even though neither are really that impressive right now. Ecuador might step up and give one of them fits. Chile hasn't been good in quite a while and I don't think they have much of a chance. Group C is imo the Group of Death. I think Argentina and the USA will get by that round by the skin of their teeth, but Paraguay will very tough to beat, and might be able to take down the US. Colombia is usually good too and they'll definitely make some noise.
By the way, this isn't the best soccer event (not counting the World Cup). The EuroCup is much better.
