This was first reported from Adam Schefter on Nfl sunday countdown that there hasnt been much progress from either side and it looks like he will re-enter the draft.

Thoughts? IMO, it looks like his NFL career is going to be a bust. He screwed it up before even playing a snap. What an idiot.

I can see it now...raiders or redskins select him and pay him. The only team that could probably sign him and make him agree to whatever that team said would be the pats or the cowboys.

If Crabtree does re-enter the draft, no doubt teams such as new york, minnesota, chicago would take a chance.

Unless Oakland takes him in the top. :P

The dude has no idea what he is doing. Also, would the 49ers get any compensation for their pick re-entering the draft?

Teams will look at Mike Williams, who was a bust after he sat out a year between college and the pros...and so they'll be reluctant to take Crabtree with a really high pick. This is a stupid, stupid move on his part. He's losing a lot of money doing this.

not sure how the bears would be able to take him unless he was a second or third round projection but he will go in the first and the bears dont have any first round picks next year.

Guy can play some football and not playing in the NFL for one year isn't going to break him. I don't know if he will actually get picked in the top 10 next year but he would still be a 1st round pick and maybe with a better team. I don't know how he really expects to make more money by doing this but its his choice and good luck with that.....

I don't think anyone will want him. He doesn't even play one snap and he's whining about money? What he should have done was try and get a one year contract with the Niners, have a good season, then try to get a larger salary with a different team next year.

We own his rights until March. I don't care though. What's the point if he doesn't want to play here? If he rather have a good time with his boy, Deion, in Dallas screw it. Hopefully a rookie cap comes out of it if he does actually go back in the draft.

I think the rights end before next year's draft.

Yeah, you guys don't need him anyway.

That would've been perfect. Sadly, rookies these days want long-guaranteed contracts where they can still laugh straight to the bank even if they become busts. Renegade: A rookie cap would be perfect. Naughty: Sadly, many players these days are all about the money. They get a big time agent and they whine and whine till they get that big contract. Then they decide to discuss football

I seriously don't think anyone's going to take him in the early rounds, and why would they? So they could have him make more salary demands without ever playing a snap? Put him in his place, draft him in the seventh round or take him as an undrafted free agent, and tell him that he may have been able to get top 10 money last year, but this year he's looking at round seven money, put him in his place. And frankly, i don't think any team should be concerned about his talent. He's re-entering the draft because of money, so every team should draft him based on the money they stand to pay him, and if you take him late then you pay him less.

My question exactly

This is what I have been wondering too. It seems unfair that the 49ers get screwed because Crabtree decides to be a D-bag. I think he has a very good chance of slipping very low if he enters the draft and then he won't get anything even close to what the Niners have offered him. He is a complete idiot.

Exactly! And usually, if you are picked by a good team, you are going to get a much smaller payday (in comparison) because the good team has a lower draft pick. And honestly, I don't think he cares about who he plays for, he just thinks he deserves Top 3 money. Course, that's what happens when your cousin is you counselor...

True but Niners still retain his rights until he's officially part of next year's draft. So, starting March 2010 the Niners can entertain trade offers for Crabtree.

Yeah, but the niners receive no compensation picks which is what I think most people are wondering about. Even if they have the ability to trade him, it would be lopsided like the TO trade I would think.

I really don't think he'll get more than what the Niners were willing to give him when he re-enters gets drafted next year. The WR corp coming out of college will actually be a beast of a class with Dez Bryant (OkSU), Aurrelious Benn (Illinois) and Damina Williams (USC) leading the pack. There's a few more people below these top-tiers college WRs seen as 1st-rounders who probably will get drafted before Crabtree. That's the thing about missing a full year of no competitive football that will lower Crabtree's stock. So, year team will definitely draft him but don't be surprised if he drops to the 20-30's in the 1st-round and probably even the second round.

I doubt holding out for a year will work out well for him. Going #10 and being the 2nd WR taken has hurt his ego and his wallet. It would be a shame for the 49ers to lose their first round pick....The NFL needs a rookie cap NOW!

He is an idiot. Re-entering the draft will lower his draft position meaning less money. And teams don't want such an ego on a team so they probably will draft him later on 2nd round. He probably made the biggest mistake in his whole life turning down the 49ers offer, a shame that greed has taken over his love for the game of football.
