I'm wondering who you guys think will win the Cy Young in both the AL and NL this season. My predictions:

AL: Josh Beckett, BoSox
NL: Jake Peavy, San Diego

Haren(Oak) in the AL

Webb(Ari) in the NL, he might get the nod more for his scoreless streak which voters will remember most.

AL: Bedard (Unfortunately, since only wins are looked at in Cy Young voting, Bedard probably won't win).

Peavy for the NL.

Peavy has the most wins, the lowest ERA, and the most strikeouts in the NL.

Nobody else comes close.

webb was good but pitched poorly lately its beckett or bedard in the al and peavy's to lose at this point in the nl.

webb and zambrano's poor play in the last month or so have taking them out.

For me, it's C.C., Dan Haren, or Escobar in AL and maybe Beckett.

In NL, it's Peavy without a doubt.

i have made a strong case for bedard for the past couple months but the fact that he is most likely done for the year due to his oblique, unfortunetly he prob won't win, even though IMO he's been the best pitcher in all of baseball this year.

For the AL, I like Sabathia winning it and in the NL, I'll go with Peavy...

Well Bedard has a lower ERA than CC, Beckett, and Carmona only Haren has a lower ERA of the true CY Young candidates (3.03 to 3.16). Bedard has 39 more K's in less innings than the next closest guy. Bedard has a higher win % than any guy except Beckett. To make it short: his WHIP is the lowest, his OBP against is the lowest, his SLG against is the lowest ...for God sake his BA against is .28 lower than the next guy and his K/9 is 10.93, the closest one is 8.50

All of this while playing in the AL in the offensive oriented AL East, with a mediocre team, with mediocre offense, a bad bullpen and a disappointing Closer in Chris Ray. So yeah, his done for the season but look past the n00bs stats(W-L, ERA) and look how Bedard has been the best pitcher this season in the AL.

Still, unknown guy like Bedard will have a disadvantage over the big-name pitchers like Sabathia and Beckett even if he has outpitched both of these guys by far.

NL is over and done with....it's Peavy

AL - Top 3 IMO = C.C. Sabathia, Josh Beckett, Erik Bedard

- I think Sabathia took the lead tonight with his ownage of the Angels, 9IP 5H BB, 3k (ad CLE really needed this win)

C.C.

  • 17 Wins - T1st AL
  • 3.17 ERA - 5th AL
  • 185 Ks - 4th AL
  • 220 IP - 1st AL
  • 4 Complete Games - 2nd AL

Bedard

  • 13 Wins - T14th AL
  • 3.16 ERA -4th AL
  • 221 Ks - 1st AL
  • 182 IP - 16th AL
  • 1 Complete Games - T14th AL

Beckett

  • 17 Wins - T1st AL
  • 3.30 ERA - 9th AL
  • 165 Ks - 9th AL
  • 174.2 IP - 21st AL
  • 1 Complete Game - T14th AL

Haren's last six starts.....1-4, 6.69 ERA, 1.61 WHIP

He's not gonna win the Cy Young.
