Real simple what's your favorite movie based on sports, and maybe (please) a reason or two why.

I'll start, Any Given Sunday, football is my favorite spectator sport, Oliver Stone is a great director, the cast is phenomenal, Al Pacino's pregame speech about inches should have won him an Oscar. It's just the best damn sports movie ever.

What about you?

The Sandlot - I'm not even a fan of baseball, but the movie is great. The things the kids do just to get back that baseball are just great and theres many funny moments.

The Mighty Ducks I and II - Not a fan of hockey, but I loved the characters.

Remember the Titans - Acting was superb and well I just love football.

field of dreams - i'm old school so when you see a character based on Shoeless Joe, as well as other great historic players mentioned throughout the film (Gil Hodgess, Mel Ott, etc.) then tie it with a great story, it's perfect. I've prob seen it 100 times

Any Given Sunday is god awful, horrible sports movie, absolutely horrible, as a huge fan of Pacino I feel bad he was ever part of that movie.

For me it's Hoosiers, Raging Bull, Bull Durham and Remember the Titans. Friday Night Lights was pretty good too

Rocky 4 (Training montage ftw), Hoosiers, RUDY, Remember the Titans, Cinderella Man, Sandlot. The top though would be Rocky 4 because no other movie pumps me up as that.

Fav Football Movie: Rudy, because it all comes together to give the underdogs in life hope that if you want it bad enough and sacrafice enough you can live your dream. Good acting, and who can forget the musical score during the tryouts.

Fav Basketball Movie: He Got Game, because this movie helps point out the insanity of up and coming stars that are constantly under pressure to do what is right, and try to avoid the pitfalls. Everyone wants a piece of you, and at 18 your supposed to handle everything at once. Great acting from Denzel and Ray Allen did alright. Lincoln, Linc-Linc-Linc, Licoln Roll Call !!!

Fav Baseball Movie: 61, because it really showed us what it was like to go through the life of Roger Maris and how he dealt with so much stress and undeserved hate for just trying to do his best. He did something great, without performance enhancing drugs, and all while being hated by his own New York fans. Solid performances by Barry Pepper and Thomas Jane. His was a real accomplishment that I will respect more than most player's questionable feats today.

Fav Hockey Movie: Miracle, because it is one of the greatest upsets of all-time. A bunch of college kids went through hell to become national heroes by upsetting the big, dominant Russians who hadn't lost in years. Very inspirational and made me really enjoy watching hockey even though I am not a big fan.

Honorable mentions: A league of Their Own (Tom Hanks was genius), Friday Night Lights (Talk about pressure), Field of Dreams (Makes most people think of the good times they have had in life), White Men Can't Jump (Billy Hoyle and Sidney taking sucker's money), Ali (Will Smith does his character justice with a great performance), Cinderella Man (its not about being the best ever its about keeping your family alive by any means necessary)

Why don't you sign up for netflix it's 17 bucks a month, I signed up for them when my local videostore didn't have a copy of Goldeneye. In fact they had only two James Bond movies, what a joke.

I only have the Pass for bringing to it the store. 2 Movies out at a time no return date unlimited rentals. I have it free for life because my parents are rich and they had it set up for 4 movies out at a time so i went to their house one day and took 2 of the movies. So i just have to go in and exchange them for whatever movies i want to rent. Sure that isnt free for life but it pretty much is unless blockbuster closes lol.

(no i dont live with them lol i live with my wifey and son)

Sounds like a good deal, you could probably convince them to upgrade to online too, just say it's not always easy to take your sone to the videostore or something.

Living with the wife, eh? That's good to hear marriage and family are becoming all to uncommon these days, seems like not so long ago that I was supposed to be married to my little girls mother, oh well, best laid plans and s***.

Yah, I couldnt even imagine what it would be like not being with my son everyday putting himt o bed waking him up.

About the online thing, I liek Gamefly for renting games because i can wait a few days to play a game. But when I want to watcha movie its usually a spur of the moment thing where I want it that day, and its easier to just drive to the blockbuster on main street and grab whatever I want... and sometimes i like to just go and browse the old movies untill i find something i feel like watching.

Gotta go with The Mighty Ducks. I don't care if the flying-V was offside, or that the triple-deke has never actually worked in real life.
