aah that is the ultimate question lol, if you are a hardcore soccer fan, go for PES as you are essentially sacrificing modes and authenticity for better, more realistic gameplay, however- fifa 07 is a big step in the series, it has he modes, the official license, while still having quite good gameplay (not as realistic as PES, but still much better than previous FIFA's), its your choice, get both if you want to experience everything

Fifa 07 is by far the best Fifa since 2001 (ahh, memories).   In contrast PES6 on PS2 is just like 5.  If your new to sports games, PES6 on PS2 is just about the best footy game on the market (including the PES on 360 which misses some features for no reason).

pes has excellent gameplay, but fifa's got a huge advantage with the official license.  fifa gameplay has come a long way tho...

This year i bought both for the 360 and to be honest pro evo was lacking something that it has had for years but i dont know what it is and Fifa has improved massively since last year and on the 360 at least i prefer Fifa this year.

I agree with this. Fifa has def improved and is a solid game I just wish it had all the teams on the 360 version.

I found that PES on the '360 was noticably slower than the PS2 version (i did own both, but sold the '360 version) and that it became significantly easier to score in the area, but harder outside - amongst other things.  These are just a couple of the things i found (if you don't believe me, play the 360 version for an hour, than play on the PS2 one...it feels like its on X2 speed or something)

They are both good games. Both go in different directions. PES plays more of a defensive style game like real soccer. The goalies and defence are actually smart they challenge. Offensively it is a lot harder to score compared to Fifa. Fifa plays more of an offensive direction. The goalie and defence don't really challenge as much. In Fifa it is very easy to score and break through the defence. You score on almost everyshot. Don't forget UEFA champions league is coming out, if the defence is improved this should be the game to pick up.
