What about them? Judging from the scoreboard it looks like they barely escaped.

Yeah, that game was mediocre at best. They are very lucky to get away with it and it's sad that ESPN is trying to pretend like Brady did something amazing. They got lucky, end of story.
the patriots barely beat the bills...what happens when they go up against a playoff contender?
and i knew what i was doing when i picked up fred jackson =P
The worst part is the way ESPN is reacting to this: "ZOMG THE BRADY MAGIC IS BACK!" "HE DID IT AGAIN!" No, Brady got the ball on the 20 and threw 1 pass. There was no magic and Brady did not win this game for them. Argggggggggggggh I hate you ESPN.limpbizkit818
But he threw just one pass! ONE PASS!

once you sit out a year, you have to PROVE you still have it. he did not do this last night. respect is earned, not given.Of course it was all Tom Brady, not a total screw up by the Bills special teams coach. Might wanna tell that guy to take the touchback next time. I loved the way that Brady was a total douche to the sideline reporter after the game too. Second_Rook
Yeah, I think Brady felt that the Patriots stole the game and didn't really feel like a "hero".
DAMMIT!
The Bills won that game. The pats go lucky. The saddest part was they put us against the Pats on monday night football because they "knew" theyd destroy us. Then they act like Brady's a hero for simple passes i couldve made.
Same thing happened to us against friggin' Dallas in 07. SAME SCORE TOO
The pats are nothin but lucky punks.
I personally loved that game, thought it was a really good game to watch. Obviously the last five minutes was the major entartainment. As for Brady, I think he deserves some credit. I mean five minutes to go andmost people had counted the patriots out and he marched his team down to score. Then he did it again, even after the fumble recovery there was no gaurentee they would score. Be fair it takes a franchise qb to do what brady did, could others have doen that obviously, but quiet a few (i would go so far as to say at least half the NFL starters) could not.
Nevertheless I still feel the kickoff unit deserves the credit for stealing a game that the patriots had no business winning. Anyways I will agree that New england needs to work because they wont beat the steelers, giants or other superbowl contenders with that tpye of effort. However I feel its fair to say new england looked rusty not finishing drives (settlign for two fgs)and that the patriots will be a much stronger team in a few weeks.

The Bills were the ones who got lucky
They got one of the premiere teams in all of sports before they were up to speed. The Bills had the luck of taking on the Pats with a rusty Tom Brady and a week from the trade of Richard Seymour. The Bills got another break because Mayo went down early.
If the Bill won would anyone bring that up? The Bills had the deck stacked in their favor for the opening night of Monday night football to make headlines the next day
The play at the end of the game was skill. That's done in practice over and over and over. You hold the ball carrier up and you strip the ball, the thing is that one person usually holds the carrier and someone snags the ball but last night one guy did both.
The Bills had all the luck and even with that luck on their side they couldn't take down a proven winner

Dont worry, Jets gonna "Rex" em next week.Tjeremiah1988I agree, there is a very good chance this will happen. I even picked them in my Fantasy Pick 'Em League to beat the Pats.
Brady threw for 380 yards, 2 TDs, and had a QB rating of nearly 100...
He may not be at his best, but he is still better than most.
The Patriots did get lucky that McKelvin fumbled, but the Bills were lucky to even be in the game. The Patriots will have to play better to beat the Jests next week.

It's so surprising experts makes a big deal out of a QB who broke records after winning three rings coming back after knee surgery. If the Brady of the second half was was playing in the first half, the score would have been doubled. In no way could a QB who hasn't played a game in a year be shaky for one half of a game. I love it when people claim the Bills lost the game and the Pats didn't win it when it's the good teams that capitalize on mistakes. Anyone who moans and groans that Brady is overrated never saw every game in 2006, the year before Moss and Welker. He had garbage receivers and was one win away from a SB appearance. And please knock it off with the "respect is earned" nonsense. Respect is earned with playoff wins, three rings and a game where two TD's are scored in under two minutes with over 350 yds passing for the game. Just stop it. The hating is old.[QUOTE="starwarsjunky"][QUOTE="CJL13"]

So I guess the Bills weren't too rusty either, being it the first game of season considering there were a lot of sloppy games in Week 1. The Bills were lucky? How about losing Paul Posluszny to a broken arm and Chris Kelsay hurting his knee? Not to mention firing their offensive cooridinator after the preseason? C'mon now, McKelvin fumbles and it gave the Patriots awesome field position to work with...that's luck right there.

i hated seeing posluszny getting hurt. :( he was a classmate of mine in high school. and when you come off a major injury like that, you do indeed need to prove it. especially considering he's getting older. the bills had the game in the bag. They showed me why they aren't a contender, they could only beat the Bills after a little bit of luck.

Wait Wait, the good teams "find" ways to win. Right?
I'm not putting down the Giants. The Patriots didn't deserve to win that game. I'm just arguing rationale. I've heard so many people say the Buffalo game was a fluke but nobody who says that will apply the same reasoning to the SB. It's as simple as Patriot hating. If the NE return team STRIPS the ball and causes a TD drive, it's a fluke. If a receiver catches a football on his helmet, than his team MUST be better.[QUOTE="Los9090"][QUOTE="LordMaiden"]

Then I will say the INT by Buffalo was luck too. Because whenever a turnover happens from the other team forcing it, it's purely luck.

The FF at that point in the game and in that situation was lucky. Especially the excellent field position the Pats got. Face it, you know it...but that's sports for ya, the Broncos got lucky vs. the Bengals obviously.

I don't think you understand the point behind the rankings as they are right now. Exactly what teams do you think should be placed in the top 5?
Here is ESPN's week 2 power rankings: http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings?year=2009&week=2
First off, notice who is not #1
Second, tell me exactly why none of those top five teams should not be there? And if any of those teams lose this weekend, do you think the rankings will be the same?

1. the rankings go off of how they did last year and what offseason changes they've had. not just W's and L's
2. by your own logic of wins and losses, the 49ers belong above the titans.
3. if it were up to me, id put tennessee as the #2 team. thats where i truly think they belong.
and keep in mind these rankings are just put there by so-called experts. which means they know as much as most of the people watching the game, but they know how to write and/or have interesting opinions.
