APF was limited in what it could do. the gameplay was there but the options such as franchise couldn't be done because it wasn't possible with legends in the game. when would they retire? after 3 years lol not only that the gameplay was still solid but the problem people and most reviewers had were it were the lack of features which was true. As for Maddens sales, it does not indicate if a game is good or not. Soulja boy was popular and sold a lot of records too does that make him good? no it does not, not saying madden is bad but i'm just saying numbers sold does not indicate if it is a good game or not. Look at Madden 06, that was possibly the worst madden and it STILL sold a lot but Madden sheep will buy it year after year despite all of its flaws

did you forget Madden also dropped their price to $30 once they saw NFL 2k was selling like hot cakes. Btw the only reason there are more madden followers is because it was out longer. remember gameday 98 and how much better that was compared to madden 98. I'm not a fanboy I just want a good NFL football game to play. Gameday 98 was one of the greatest NFL games during the 90's, NFL fever was pretty good too back then, then 2k came on the scene and it competed like gameday back then to help madden and give them competition which it sure did. much like the basketball series - if you want a more realistic sports sim that caters more to the hardcore, get 2k

if you want an easier pick up and play game that caters more to the casual, get EA

It's always been like that for the basketball and football games. Personally, i prefer realism which is why i can't stand the live or madden series, but there are a lot of people who prefer to pick up a sports game and go crazy with their favourite player and score 100+ points or run for 300+ yards, which is fine because it's a videogame after all.

Both series are good for the type of gameplay that they offer, it all depends on whether you prefer a more toned-down, realistic experience in 2k or a fast-paced, arcadey experience in madden. End of story

I understand what you are trying to say, but you obviously don't get what I'm talking about. To me, Madden is the better game, period, that's why I buy it. It would stand to reason that all the millions of people that buy Madden do so because they feel it's the better game. I love 2k series when it was on dreamcast (its was probably the best football game i have ever played) but then the quality kept going down and MADDEN took over when it was matter, now i think all football game game is in a craphole..... maybe sports game for that matter

APF isn't an NFL game.

I mean the 2k series had its chances to step their game up but that never happened. Plus Madden NFL 09 was getting things right as far as controls .

I love it how Madden supporters don't have an answer to your post of vids with all the unrealistic elements that plague Madden games for years now.

It's funny how people brag about Madden selling more to ultimately think that it's the better game based on popularity.Of course Madden will sell more. It's been around for about 20 years now. It's a household name. Any newer franchises or companies that provide a product won't instantly outsell another company that has been around as long as EA has. Please make no mistake that just because you have Madden, and your neighbors, and friends have it, doesn't mean it's the better quality game. You all love the glamour, glitz, ESPN network coverage, clips of the actual players playing as themselves, and release parties that accompany this game and think well if they all like it then I will too.

And no, this isn't hate or me hating on EA or Madden. It's quite obvious that other devs within that company are making great games. I proudly own Dead Space and Burnout Paradise. Those are quality games. None of the devs responsible for those games had any real competition during their production and release schedules and they still put out quality games. Then why the hell can't their colleagues at EA Triburon get it right? It has nothing to do with features. Personally, I don't care to have a game with features that will be genre changing or revolutionize the way I play the game of football. I just want simple gameplay that is a realistic as possible.

So no, I don't want a WR to spin around twisting in the air to catch a pass. I don't want a DB who is covering a WR to not look back at the ball and then suddenly puts his hands up as if he had sixth sense to know that the ball was coming and defend it. I don't want a game where the ratings are there for show and mean absolutely nothing to the gameplay. And no, I don't want to look forward to the next Madden game when the recent one was just released weeks ago. I want to see a better gaming engine, where players don't always run straight up. If you watch the NFL games, you would know when a WR is running down the field and when the pass is in flight, he adjust to it to where you can see him lean while running to make a catch. I want DBs to look at the pass while it's in the air to make a play on the ball or hell, even some incidental tie ups with the WR.

I hope that we get to see that this gen and not on a next gen system.

Are you serious? I didn't know that... Hmm... Geez... I couldn't have brought it up because the same people made it right? That just wouldn't make sense! And since the three letters that start the title of the game aren't NFL it must be a COMPLETELY different game. It won't have any of the same gameplay elements at all... That wouldn't make sense... Give me a break!

everyone ripping on 2K sounds foolish... the game was near perfection. Responsive controls (something Madden has failed at ever since going 3D), realistic penalty calling, a great collection of unlockables for your "crib", and more that I can't even think of right now. Madden, to this day, doesn't offer a lot of the things that 2K5 offered. If you think EA owns the NFL rights for "a good reason, and money has nothing to do with it" you are just downright naive... money had EVERYTHING to do with it. Why do you think EA was making such a big stink a couple years back about trying to buy-out 2K?? They know that 2K is a better company than they (EA) are, and they tried capitalizing in a down economy when they were trying to buy them out in hopes of eliminating a dominant competitor. Notice that the best sports games lately are soccer games? they are showing the most improvement from one year to the next, with actual new features and effort being put into the production... you wanna know why? because there is competition in the soccer game market since no single company holds the rights.
