That's my reaction right now. Seriously were 11-5, and we get absolutely no luck unlike in the nfc with the eagles. We killed Arizona and they get a playoff berth? The chargers who are 7-8 might have a chance in. I'm watching the Jets game......Favre just can't seem to stop throwing INT's and then the Brady news. It's been a tough Sunday.

I dont like The pats much at all, but what Cassell and that team has done this year has been amazing. Even though they didnt get into the playoffs, they still played amazing and did alot better then most expected them to do. I have nothing but respect for Casells and The Pats now for the way they played this year.

5 reasons why the patriots should not be in the playoffs.

1) They lost to the dolphins on their home field. (it's okay the dolphins are good)

2) They lost to the jets on their home field. (This is not okay. The jets are not good)

3) They lost to the colts after having the lead. (Had you defeated the colts you would be 12-4, and even if you were a wild card you would have gotten in.)

4) They lost to the chargers. Not only did they lose, they were blown out. The chargers are clearly the better team and had they not been cheated and lost so many games in the last 24 seconds, they would have a better record than 8-8. I do not want to hear any discussion that NE is better than SD, because the proof is in the pudding from earlier this season.

5) They were absolutely destroyed by the pittsburgh steelers on their home field.

Wow, how ironic! The top 5 reasons they are not in the playoffs are the 5 games that they lost. Boo hoo to all of you patriots fans and hey enjoy watching the playoffs at home and we will see you in 2009.

I don't think there is anything unfair about the Patriots not making the playoffs. Everyone knew the rules at the beginning of the season. Win your division and your in the playoffs, simple as that. One thing that I think it highlights is the poor structure of the nfl playoff system. My Cowboys ended 9-7 which was not good enough this season while we made it 2 seasons back with that record. I personally don't think the Cowboys were good enough to make an impact in the playoff anyway, but that is another story. There are also Redskins who ended 8-8 and bottom of the NFC East , while the Chargers with the same record have won their division.

I think in an ideal situation the divisions at the beginning of the season would be formulated based on a seeding system using the teams records from the previous season. The UEFA Champions League (European soccer competition) uses this system to separate the top sides into different groups. So in effect at the beginning of the season the top 8 sides (based on previous seasons records) will be drawn as top seeds in each division. It continues with the next 8 and so on. So in effect you are unlikely to have a division like the NFC East with all teams being plus .500 at the end of the season.

I understand it will never happen because of the traditions of the Nfl and the rivalries. But I still think the way the playoff teams are decided needs help. So the best teams that season are represented.

Out of those 8 games they lost the most they lost by was 8 points!! I dont want to hear it! Pats didnt do what they needed to do, the Chargers played with lots of heart and never gave up after coming up short in so many games this year! And it is a god damn shame that Rivers is not in the Pro Bowl when he was the best QB in the AFC hands down this year.
