this question has probably been asked a bajillion times in this forum, but i really want to know because i think the last madden game that was worth paying full price for was 2005.

Yes Going online is always fun. Especially if you got buddies who go on as well.

Don't pay full price for it. Try to get it used first or wait until it goes down in price.

i just purchased it two days ago and depending on how much you like the madden series, it could go either way. my biggest complaint (and i even read this in the reviews and refused to believe it) is that there's way too many fumbles. you can have an awesome interception, run it all the way back to the 1 yard line ready to score a touchdown, and then a dude will barely bump you and all the sudden it's a fumble. i hope they come up with some kind of update to cure this disease in madden 08.

that's tought to say. it's a very good game, but i don't know if it's worth $60. if you really like sports games, it's worth it because you'll most likely get a ton of hours out of the franchise and superstar modes, and the game of football itself is very good. however, if you aren't willing to put up with some excessive fumbles and glitches, it may not be worth the money.

i say rent it firstNetYankEagle

I would suggest renting it too even though I would say it is worth it. It all comes down to if you like the game or not so even though I think it's the best Madden since 05 (which was sick by the way) I would rent it so then you can be sure you want to buy it.

Check out my thread and hope this helps you. I'd say rent it. All three football game reviews.

thanks for all the help, but what i really would like to know is the difficulty. In the past madden games pro is not challenging for me, and all pro is a bit too difficult for me. Is the defense as smart as some of the reviews i have read say? Because I will definitely consider buying this soon if there is enough of a challenge on pro.

Also, im sure that its not in there this year, but what i really would like is a deep tutorial on play calling and reading the other teams defense/offense

I think it's definately more difficult than last years on the pro level. The AI defense is pretty good and you can't just drop bombs with your QB expecting the receiver to catch it, you actually have to have some strategy. As I mentioned before though, there's a lot of fumbles. I found that controlling the defense is also kind of difficult. I can no longer just cut through the offensive line and plow the quarterback like in previous years versions. I would recommend reading a guide online to find anything like a deep tutorial. The instruction booklet that the game comes with is very skinny and explains very little except for the controls.

Most of EA games have small manuals! I find myself learning new controls by playing in practice mode. I wanted to know if the vision cone was in this years game or not and it turns out that it is. There was no mention of the vision cone anywhere in the manual.

Yes its worth it,but prepare to be frustrated at first. This Madden is the hardest I've played, but practice and playing smart pays off.Mix up your play calling and formations on both sides of the ball and use precision passing feature.

I always say to myself I'm not going to get it then I get it then I regret getting it for all the right reasons.

ONLINE SUCKS! It lags bad, to many INTS and FUMBLES, and to many and I mean many CHEESERS. AKA (CHEATERS)!!!
