Id rather see kobe not get his way and ask to be traded. That would make for some interesting events on where he would go.

You're insane if you think they'll trade the best player since MJ for an inconsistent injury-prone(not to mention the stuff he pulled in Toronto) player straight up.

Vince Carter Injury prone? He faked his injury as a raptor i admit that but sicn ehe was a net he has only missed 3 games due to a minor Injury.

He still wants to be a Net next year:| it just depends what exactly the Nets want to give him and that = a Sign and Trade.

no it wasn't.  his high school number was 33.  My neighbor still has his Lower Marion throwback jersey.  Unless there was another high school he went to that i'm unaware of, which may be possible, his number was 33.  He went on quite frankly at the begining of the season and told steven a. smith about his number change.  He said "why not".  "there are 24 hours in a day".  That's rediculous.  In my opinion, even though it may sound outragous, he changed his number to one up jordan.  I know that sounds crazy but kobe has always been considered to be one that marches to the beat of a different drum.  It sounds obsered but i havent heard a better reason.

If he has to go, the Lakers are going to want him in the East, and I'm sure that's where he wants to be. Easier path to the finals. Also if he forces a trade they will get a nice package but nowhere close to fair value.

But seriously, I don't think he goes anywhere, he's just playing hardball. Plus he has a point, Kupchak is an idiot. The Kidd to L.A. deal died because Andrew Bynum is untouchable? I thought they promised Kobe a competitive team every season. Any great player would be frustrated.

I don't doubt Bynum's raw talent and potential but the organization can't have it both ways, either trade Kobe for picks and more young guys or use what chips you have to get the man some quality veteran teammates to win now like was promised. Jason Kidd is one of the great point guards of all time - if you can pair him with Kobe Bryant while they're both in their prime for only a top prospect and filler I say you do it, and I'm sure Kobe felt that way too.

I am glad to see that Kobe is taking some initiative.  This is a real win-win for NBA fans (not necessarily Laker fans).  If they put together a good team, then they could contend.  If not, we'll get to see Kobe with another team and other talent.  It will be interesting to see what happens.

Kobe isnt going anywhere. The baby is just throwing a temper tantrum. Someone needs to remind him that he is under contract, makes 100+ million, and lives in SoCal. Besides, if it wasnt for him, Lakers could have won 5 in a row. This is what he gets for wanting to be "the man".

If Kobe does leave the Lakers which I think will not happen the Lakers like they did with Shaq would trade him to an eastern team, I think kobe would want to go play for a eastern team as well since it would an easier path to the finals, If there is one team that I can see Kobe leaving to besides the Lakers it would be the Bulls

the team that can give the lakers the best prospects for kobe if they wanted him is most likely chicago. but the bulls dont need kobe, sure i and many fans would love him but they dont need him. one thing lakers would probably want deng. not going to happen. hinrich, deng, wallace are the 3 starters not tradeable. gordon, nocioni, duhon, safolosha, thomas, and whoever else plus draft picks can be traded as far as i care. but the bulls really need is a BIG MAN/ POST UP player. but there arent many out there and its a shame.

I completely agree. Kobe has every right to be upset with the Lakers management. It has been 3 years and he still doesn't have that contending team that he was promised. The Lakers even had a chance to get 4 all-star calibur players but they hesitated to pull the trigger each time. Kobe is just doing what KG should have done years ago. He's too competitive to just accept mediocrity so he's doing everything in his power to try to get the Lakers to surround him with a real team.

Just an FYI, Kobe said he wants West but if he doesn't come it won't make him want to leave. If you read the article he says he wants to retire a Laker.

All Kobe needs is a good PF and they should try and grab Garnett or Gasol and they would be a force especially if they could keep Odom. I'd give up Bynum and Kwame for one of those two EASY!!!

Look. I have no idea what Kobe is thinking. Brining Jerry West back isn't going to make this a championship caliber team. NBA is much harder to build a dynasty around than say MLB or NFL. In NFL, players can restruct their contract to help a franchise, but in NBA you can't. In MLB, there is no salary cap. Lakers have no cap room to make worthy FA siginings. Only thing Jerry West can do is make a trade, but Lakers have no body. Bynum is its best trade commodity, but he's not even that good. Unless Timberwolves is stupid enough to think that a Farmar, Bynum, and draft picks package is worth trading KG, Lakers will have a virtually the same roster going into next season.

Compared to other clubs looking to trade L.A. doesn't have the pieces required for Garnett, probably Gasol as well. They have one prospect big man who's thin on experience, Odom who's a solid starter but not exactly special, no desireable draft picks and a whole lot of limited role players/baggage.

It's gonna take a shrewd GM to rework that roster, and West is nothing if not a shrewd GM. I don't know if he want's the job though, word is he's leaning towards being a "consulant" for the club.

I agree but weirder things have happened. Personally, I don't care too much since I'm not a Laker fan but that is something I could see happening.

Kobe: I'm done, trade me

DAMN, more drama!

I just listened to his interview with Stephen A Smith, it's really candid and definitely worth hearing to get his whole story. This is shaping up to be an interesting offseason to say the least.

I'm a huge Kobe fan (and Laker fan), but I'll be the first person to burn my Kobe jerseys if he is traded.  And I don't mean that as a metaphor, I WILL ACTUALLY BURN MY KOBE JERSEYS.  I'll video tape it, and then I'll host it on youtube and GS.  Kobe is like a woman.  He's so drama.

Actually I'm no Kobe fan aside from respecting his business on the court, but this seems to be mostly on the Lakers organization and years in the making. I really recommend listening to the interview in it's entirety because I probably wouldn't have any sympathy for the man otherwise. It's not just about the supporting cast issue and there's lots of revealing stuff, what's interesting is that Shaq says he believes every word of it "one thousand percent."

One one hand I think all these millionaires should shut up and play, but what a decietful snake Jerry Buss looks like now, not to mention a creepy old man (drunk driving arrest with a girl 50 years younger than him).
