Ah, drama. Maybe he thinks if they get West back he can work his GM magic and swing a deal for Shaq!

You're insane if you think they'll trade the best player since MJ for an inconsistent injury-prone(not to mention the stuff he pulled in Toronto) player straight up.
Vince Carter Injury prone? He faked his injury as a raptor i admit that but sicn ehe was a net he has only missed 3 games due to a minor Injury.[QUOTE="NetYankEagle"][QUOTE="carnage2k9"][QUOTE="NetYankEagle"]Vince carter to LA Kobe to NJ oh man id wet myselfcarnage2k9

He still wants to be a Net next year:| it just depends what exactly the Nets want to give him and that = a Sign and Trade.[QUOTE="stephbm6"]Why did Kobe change his number to 24 anyways?NetYankEagleit was his High School number
no it wasn't. his high school number was 33. My neighbor still has his Lower Marion throwback jersey. Unless there was another high school he went to that i'm unaware of, which may be possible, his number was 33. He went on quite frankly at the begining of the season and told steven a. smith about his number change. He said "why not". "there are 24 hours in a day". That's rediculous. In my opinion, even though it may sound outragous, he changed his number to one up jordan. I know that sounds crazy but kobe has always been considered to be one that marches to the beat of a different drum. It sounds obsered but i havent heard a better reason.

His High school Number was 24 and 33 but his main Number was 24 he wore 33 his last year to rep his father who wore 33 in high schoolgotcha. Yea i'm not too familiar w/ his background other than he lived overseas growing up, so i just went on the lower marion 33 jersey, and that dumb a$$ response he gave stephen a smith. I wonder why he just didn't say that on the showsixringz1i watch sportcenter religiously so i remember lots of things :)
If he has to go, the Lakers are going to want him in the East, and I'm sure that's where he wants to be. Easier path to the finals. Also if he forces a trade they will get a nice package but nowhere close to fair value.
But seriously, I don't think he goes anywhere, he's just playing hardball. Plus he has a point, Kupchak is an idiot. The Kidd to L.A. deal died because Andrew Bynum is untouchable? I thought they promised Kobe a competitive team every season. Any great player would be frustrated.
IMO opionion Bynum is untouchable he is only 17?18? he still has about 6 more years to progress. I know Kobe cant wait 6 more years but i wouldnt have traded bynumIf he has to go, the Lakers are going to want him in the East, and I'm sure that's where he wants to be. Easier path to the finals. I don't doubt Bynum's raw talent and potential but the organization can't have it both ways, either trade Kobe for picks and more young guys or use what chips you have to get the man some quality veteran teammates to win now like was promised. Jason Kidd is one of the great point guards of all time - if you can pair him with Kobe Bryant while they're both in their prime for only a top prospect and filler I say you do it, and I'm sure Kobe felt that way too.

I completely agree. Kobe has every right to be upset with the Lakers management. It has been 3 years and he still doesn't have that contending team that he was promised. The Lakers even had a chance to get 4 all-star calibur players but they hesitated to pull the trigger each time. Kobe is just doing what KG should have done years ago. He's too competitive to just accept mediocrity so he's doing everything in his power to try to get the Lakers to surround him with a real team.
Just an FYI, Kobe said he wants West but if he doesn't come it won't make him want to leave. If you read the article he says he wants to retire a Laker.
All Kobe needs is a good PF and they should try and grab Garnett or Gasol and they would be a force especially if they could keep Odom. I'd give up Bynum and Kwame for one of those two EASY!!!

Compared to other clubs looking to trade L.A. doesn't have the pieces required for Garnett, probably Gasol as well. They have one prospect big man who's thin on experience, Odom who's a solid starter but not exactly special, no desireable draft picks and a whole lot of limited role players/baggage.
It's gonna take a shrewd GM to rework that roster, and West is nothing if not a shrewd GM. I don't know if he want's the job though, word is he's leaning towards being a "consulant" for the club.

I agree but weirder things have happened. Personally, I don't care too much since I'm not a Laker fan but that is something I could see happening.
looks like kobe's packing his bag
i dont blame him tho, losing twice the past two years in the first round and without a supporting cast, i would want out too
i like his hunger to win championshipsÂ
Actually I'm no Kobe fan aside from respecting his business on the court, but this seems to be mostly on the Lakers organization and years in the making. I really recommend listening to the interview in it's entirety because I probably wouldn't have any sympathy for the man otherwise. It's not just about the supporting cast issue and there's lots of revealing stuff, what's interesting is that Shaq says he believes every word of it "one thousand percent."Â
One one hand I think all these millionaires should shut up and play, but what a decietful snake Jerry Buss looks like now, not to mention a creepy old man (drunk driving arrest with a girl 50 years younger than him).
