I dont have NFL Insiders but it says "Megatron on the block?: The Lions may trade their superstar WR in a Herschel Walker-esque deal."

Wow thats probably the smartest thing ive ever seen done by the Lions front office if its actually true. They will continue to have zero offensive production for atleast two more years so Calvin is being wasted, and cant contribute in any meaningful way. Trade him, and hope your offense matures in a couple years when you have a solid O/D line. There is no downside to this if it does happen.

Interesting if it's true. I know a lot of teams could use a reciever. I wish the Skins would take him but what we really need is young, offensive linemen and probably a new Qb.

Damn. I love Calvin. He plays hurt and plays hard and really never makes news off the field. He's one of my favorite non-Eagle players and I hope he gets shipped somewhere where he'll get his recognition as one of the top pass catchers in the league.

I doubt this is an actual rumor rather than wishful thinking dreamed up by Drew Sharp. It would be a good move if they can get someone to overpay like the Cowboys did for #11. They are in a phase where they need to sell high and buy low. Megatron for a first and second round pick would be worth it, especially if their is a rookie salery cap in place to use on those new picks.

Wow! Calvin Johnson, in the Lions embarrassment called an offense, is a Pro-Bowl caliber player. Imagine him with an offense that can actually move the ball. I think the Niners should really give the Lions a call. They have 2 1st-Round Picks and pairing Calvin with Crabtree could be dominant for the next decade!

The combo of Johnson and the other G-Men receivers with Eli just tossing the ball down the field---that would be awesome! but alas, it's probably just a dream... :) [QUOTE="SaintBlaze"]

Here is what it says (I have Insider):

Calvin Johnsonhas the talent to be one of the league's best wide receivers, but he's suffered a bit through the growing pains of the start to theMatthew Staffordera in 2009. Calling to mind the recent Detroit Tigers trade that sent Curtis Granderson and Edwin Jackson out of town, Drew Sharp ofthe Detroit Free Presswrote on Wednesday that the Lions should ship Megatron away as well, in return for a bevy of draft picks. Joining him in the "Trade Megatron" choir on Thursday was Terry Foster ofthe Detroit News. The argument Sharp and Foster both make is that the team would do better by filling many voids than having one dominant player.

We were a little skeptical of the idea of the Lions trading their best player away, and a few members of the Lions' organizationdismissed the idea on Thursday afternoon.

The most quotable person on the subject was offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, who said, "To me, (it's) completely insane. Calvin Johnson is going to be -- and is -- one of the best receivers in football. He has struggled some this year from a health standpoint. But once you got one of those (talents), you don't want to lose one. That's one man's opinion. But I would be pretty depressed if that ever happened."

Please, his talent would be wasted in NY. Eli is an average QB at best.

The Niners have been doing a good job moving the ball through the air lately and when they actually run it with Gore it makes it even better. It would be AWESOME if the Niners got Calvin Johnson!

Going to the Giants would be a HUGE step up from the situation in Detroit right now.

Give him to the Bears. They need something from almost every position on the field. Throw in 4 offensive linemen while your at it.

You never trade a great player to a division rival. Send him to Oakland, they have some draft picks. High ones.

He'd be productive like Randy Moss's stay in Oakland.

Raiders should've chosen Calvin in the first place.

Raiders are in a good situation though if Bruce is back. Calvin would be awesome on the Raiders.

eli is an average qb..put eight men in the box take away the running game..eli has to throw the football..no plaxico to just throw the ball up to=the record they have now..trust me he needs a stud receiver to succeed. Calvin would help them bigtime..trust that. otherwise...Go Eagles!!!

A. This is a stupid move by the Lions. Johnson is a go-to guy for Stafford, he needs a receiver like that when he's goung through growing pains. OL's take time to mature, but they could be good as early as next season. That, and the draft is usually more reliable then free agency or trades with OL.

B. The Bears don't have any first or second round picks in the next draft (Cutler and Gaines Adams).

C. The Bears have more problems on offense than receiver. The trained monkey running the show needs to go, the fact that he's had such longevity with the Bear over two stints despite being a terrible offensive playcaller baffles me. The O-line hasto step up. Most of the people starting nowhave potential and are young. Williams, Omiyale, Kreutz, Shaffer, Beekman, and Garza have all proven to be more than competent at times, but it's obvious something's missing. Get a new line coach, give them a solid season together, if they're still this bad then make some wholesale changes. Still, drafting another lineman prolly isn't a bad idea. The last thing is to give receivers a chance. Hester hasn't been bad as a route-runner, I think Aromashadu has the potential to be a go-to receiver, and Knox is a good deep threat. Not that I don't think Calvin Johnson would be a good addition, he's better than all of them, I'm just saying he doesn't fill a need. He's a possession receiver, and between Olsen and Aromoshadu we have that need filled. We'd have to give up a lot to get Johnson, probably more than we have. With the situation with Kevin Smith I'd say we'd have to give up a back, probably Forte, and I really don't want to see him go. We're better off trying to draft receivers or snag a good pickup, once Jerry Angelo is gone we should be in infinitely better shape in the draft.

The Giants have such a bad record because their D is garbage, not because of Eli. Eli is playing pretty good. Eli is having one of his (if not the) best season yet.

Lol everyone's having wet dreams of CJ on their team. Not gonna lie though he would make any team's recieving game much better, especially if there's already a #1 reciever on that team. He'd look ridiculous in a Phili or Cinci uniform right about now.

Based on what they got for Roy Williams, Johnson ought to be worth four first round picks.

Announcing you want to screw over a team in such a trade I'm not sure is the best way to get a deal made.
